Guitar Circle of Chicago is a group of musicians committed to working with the principles of Guitar Craft as a "way of doing things." The Circle works with steel-string acoustic guitars using the New Standard Tuning: Low to High CGDAEG. The work consists of various Guitar Craft exercises and repertoire. Members of the Circle commute to meetings from all over Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio. The Circle is open to anyone with prior Guitar Craft experience.
The performance team works in a modular fashion based upon member availability, a practical approach that requires discipline and redundancy. Performance material consists of Guitar Craft repertoire, original pieces, circulations, and improvisations.
