WHAT IS THE DuRT VIBE ABOUT?
Basically, the aim of DuRT is to make as much
shit music as possible. We feel we have been successful. We trully believe that listening to our music will make your life less worth living.
WHEN WERE DuRT FORMED, WHY AND HOW?
DuRT formed in early 2003 in Shanklin when broken instruments found at Ben Whiting-Wilbee's house were used to create noise on The Mead for all the pedestrians and drivers. Such songs as Die Die Die Die were created. DuRT then took form in the cold, durty streets of Shorwell where they have resided until this day. The reason for forming DuRT is a mystery, but the world is definately worse off since the creation of our group.
HOW ARE DuRT SONGS MANUFACTURED?
Armed to the teeth with shit instruments (home-made fretless bass + 50 quid drumkit + CASIO MT-45 etc) and crap recording equipment (karaoke machine + 4.99 microphone etc), we make songs in the legendary Recordio in Shorwell. The Karaoke machine is placed centrally with mic on a stand pointing upwards and we sit around this with our various instruments and make noise whilst recording onto tape. Later on, the music on tape is put onto mini disc, and then transported into Cubase and then edited to the right length and made into MP3.
HOW ARE DuRT SONGS COMPOSED?
DuRT songs are not composed, that is how our vibe is created. Most of our tracks are freestyle, first takes. Some songs we wrote a chorus for and freestyled the rest. But it is all unrehearsed. About 150 songs have been recorded and they vary is style, some genres we have covered are reggae, hip-hop, trip-hop, punk, emo, trance, garage, ambient, mongover, spoken word, rave and many more undescribable styles, but one thing remains constant in all of them, they are shit.
HAVE DuRT PLAYED ANY SHOWS?
We have played 3 shows so far, our first one was supporting [Spunge] at the Royal Squadron (we aren't actually lying) and the other 2 have been rocking da MIC at Mad Mikes Skateboard video premieres where we were payed in half ounce of hash. We plan to do many more in the future, please book us.
IS THERE A DuRT EP/ALBUM?
Like we said already, we have a vast collection of songs and the ones on here do not reprasent all of our styles, all the songs are original and different from one another but we do not have an offcial EP or Album as of yet. BUT if you want a copy of our entire back catalogue, please email
[email protected] and we can do you a wicked deal for a quid mate. We are looking to release something soon on our in house label - T(D)Ru Records in the near future.
ANYTHING ELSE?
By the way if you hear of another shit metal band from America called Durt, they aren't the real and 100% official DuRT band, they are just some old men nu-metal band who play rubbish covers of our songs. x
