SETUP:
Jewish Dave makes his music on a PC. He currently uses a Sonica-X Dual Core P4 system with Windows XP. The center of his recording setup is Cakewalk's Sonar 8.0 Producer Edition. He uses the M-Audio Ozonic keyboard/audio interface for all of his recording and patching in his various guitars, basses, and microphones. Along with the hardware, Dave uses a number of software-synths including Cakewalk's Dimension Pro and Rapture, Plugsound Pro, and Native Instruments entire Komplete4 package (Battery3, Absynth4, Kontakt2, etc...). Dave has managed in his years of experience with this equipment to create a sound that easily rivals any of the "big" studio setups. As far as he's concerned, "all that really matters is the person using the equipment, not what kind of equipment you have." In other words... Who needs Protools?
COMEDY RAP HISTORY (As of 2006... Shit's Changed!):
Jewish Dave has been asked many times to explain his comedy-rap "career." It basically goes like this. On Halloween night, 2001, Mystah Korpse asked Jewish Dave to come over and use his studio to create the worst rap song ever made. They made a song called "Slime!" (which has been lost forever, but lives on in the "Slime! (Hard Candy Remix)." Within the next few weeks, Mystah Korpe and Jewish Dave started making more, as they put it, "awful rap songs" including "Because We Thugz," "Deaf' Defyin'," and "Mind Slaves," now with the vocals of Jewish Dave as well. As they continued to come up with more songs, the songs went from "awful" to just plain ridiculous, but actually listenable. It was about that time that the group became The Killa Korpse Gangstaz and started to add more members. Song by song, new members were added whenever a friend said "can I do a verse?" The lineup became complete when it included MC Randumb, Q, Mex 2 Da Bizzo, D-Mize and Rock & Roll Billy (as well as group singer/mascot Johnny Rubbz and frequent collaborator MC Massaca). Shortly after the release of the Killa Korpse Gangstaz debut album, "I Hope U Melt," and its first show, both on the night of September 22nd, 2002, the co-founder of the group, Mystah Korpse, left for Japan and was never heard from again. Jewish Dave and the rest of the group continued on, changing the name to Tha Polar Bear MC's (although still using the name Killa Korpse Gangstaz from time to time in songs and promotional materials). At this time, the group started to gain popularity in the local Las Vegas music scene. The songs started actually becoming better, but still ridiculous, with songs such as "Do Da Damn Thang," "The Ones (Not The Twos)," and "Drop A Deuce," and the band started doing at least a show a month. They even placed 2nd and 3rd in two Battle of the Bands'. Each of the members growing responsiblitites as they reached their mid-20's, though, as well as differences in opinion of the direction of the group caused Tha Polar Bear MC's to start to drift apart. MC Randumb & Jewish Dave were the first, and arguably, most popular offshoot, focusing more on gangsta-rap inspired songs of murder and animals. They performed many crazy, memorable concerts in the Las Vegas area throughout 2004-2007. After a string of EPs, they finally released their debut full length album "Wasted Potential Part 2: Duh Mickztayp" on Halloween in 2008. Their alter-ego group, Tha Roarin' Lionz also came about in this time, with MC Randumb & Jewish Dave being replaced by Thunduh & Lone-Wulf, and Jewish Dave's completely original beats being replaced by samples of popular (albeit completely inappropriate for the rap genre) pop songs. Around this time, Mex 2 Da Bizzo changed his name to Tha Big Yummy in celebration of his clothing line, Yummy Wear, and started making more parody-style comedy-rap songs with Jewish Dave, under the group name of Tha Big Yummy (why would Jewish Dave get any exposure out of this, after all?). Slowly Tha Big Yummy sound morphed from parody-style comedy-rap to a sort of comedy-rock-punk-rap-folk sound. All the while, D-Mize & Dee. Rockz (Jewish Dave), slowly strated working on their debut album, "Ghetto Fame," which eventually became the "6 Years Later" album released in 2008 that everyone knows and loves. The Q & The Jew had many musical and comedy projects in the works before he moved away to Florida. Perhaps one day, some of their projects will get completed? It was Q's moving away as well as MC Randumb's moving away that spelled the final end for the name Tha Polar Bear MC's. Some of the final Tha Polar Bear MC's songs were released on Jewish Dave's compilation CD, "Jewish Dave & Friends," released in August 2006. Also in 2006, a new comedy-rap group with an all Jewish theme was started by Jewish Dave, MC Ethel (Korby), and DJ Avi-The-OG (DJ Michael Toast) called Fa-Cock-Ta. Their album, "Loxstars," came out in December of 2008. Jewish Dave has considered doing some solo-comedy-rap music, but aside from his entry, "Supercool" in the Upright Citizens Brigade Songwriting Contest, as well as a few other songs, he hasn't really moved towards a solo-comedy-rap career, since he prefers to do the comedy with other members. The comedy-rap phase of Dave's life is coming to a close, but not before a few more projects are finished, as well as an all encompassing website featuring streaming versions of the close to 200 comedy-rap songs he's made between all of these comedy-rap groups. He would also somehow manage to get the group back together if someone came knocking with money to finance some shows.
