About Me

West Cork based singer and songwriter Jessie Kennedy has been gigging in Ireland for the past couple of years. Jessie has been immersed in the best of music all her life and studied classical violin until age 17, when she moved onto singing and song writing, which she has continued to do ever since.Check out Jessie's vocals on Paul Tiernan's studio album 'Belle' and 'Earthquakes start with little cracks', Her song 'Too True' featured on 'Magic Nights at the Lobby Bar' - a compilation cd made for the Cork 2005 City of Culture Project, which includes many other well known Irish artists.Jessie has in the past two years been a regular guest member of Dog Tail Soup - featuring a core group of Maurice Seezer, Fergus O'Farrell (Interference), Camilla, Black, Marja Gaynor, Bertrand Gallen and Paul T. She has performed with Maria Doyle Kennedy, Donovan, Cork group the Horsies and The Five Sexy Boys - a T-Rex tribute. She most recently appeared on the Sitting Room (De Barras) stage at Cork South X West Fest, joined by Gavin Moore and Sara Corkery, and also as a guest with John Spillane at the Pav in Sept. 2008.She can soon be seen on award-winning film maker Denis Whyte's documentary made last year in Skibbereen, singing the song 'Castlefreke', which also features David Puttnam and Jeremy Irons.Jessie has just finished recording her first studio album with Paul Tiernan in both Fergus O'Farrell's studio in Schull, and in France..So far so good!!! It's due for release in spring 2009. The album is full of mostly Jessie's own songs and hosts an amazing group of musicians who made the long journey down to Schull to Jessie and Paul for days here and there.. Maurice Seezer on piano, Kieran Kennedy on bass, Dave Clarke on drums, Marja Gaynor and Bertrand Gallen on strings, Gareth Hughes on double bass and Gavin Moore on some b vox...
