A Drummer, currently based in Jerusalem, Israel. Certificate and Diploma graduate of Tech Music School’s Drumtech in London, UK, with plenty of gig and recording experienced, primarily in Rock Metal and Drum & Bass.
I started drumming when I was 13: A year on a pad, then my first kit (3rd hand Mapex which, you’d be surprised, is still alive and kicking) and the much awaited double bass pedal a year later . . . From that point and over the following 6 years drumming was my life. I played mainly rock and metal and studied at the Academy of Performing Arts High School in Jerusalem, from which I graduated under a drum major. I was also lucky to have very good teachers – Itzik Epstein, Eyal Bibi and the best of all and a huge influence on my life – Amir Bibi, which taught me how to play music with the drums and not only the technicality of the instrument. I then took a break for a few years for studies and work.
In 2002 I came to the UK and picked up drumming again, after doing a certificate course at Tech Music School's Drum and Percussion College – Drumtech, in London (to which I then returned in autumn 2006 for the Diploma Course). After that I kept studying with my great teacher – Tom Meadows, and been drumming ever since.
July 2004 I joined the band - Faster, which I left, after three years of gigging recording and having a great time, in May 2007, as we all wanted to do different things with our music. You can hear some Faster tracks (recorded after I already left the band) here: www.myspace.com/fastermusic .
Early March 2007 I joined The Phantom Lovers (currently going by the name PHANTOM), with which we recorded two singles (produced by Richard Causon at "The Gentalmens Club" Studio): We Float - released in August 2008, and our debut Heroes and Idols, which was released in January 2008, and received very good press reviews (copied to my blog, you can check them out here www.myspace.com/talliethedrummer/blog ).
The Band gigged around the UK (supporting, among others, The Bee and Flower, Cats and Cats and Cats and Idiot Savant), recorded some demo tracks (two of which can be heard here: Running Wild, which was recorded in March 2008 and New Dawn, which was recorded at the end of 2007 and was played on BBC6 Radio’s “Tom Robinson Introduces”, in mid January), and shot a video for Heroes and Idols (if it has or has not been broadcast on MTV remains a mystery, but you can still watch it here on my page or on my YouTube channel - www. youtube.com/TallieBentovim )
Having to leave the UK, I departed from The Phantom Lovers in May 2008. However, still rocking on, you can get news and updates on The Phantom Lovers on the band’s page, here: www.www.myspace.com/thisisphantomuk
Now, back in my home country - Israel, at least for a while, am looking for new projects of all sorts and styles, so if you are in Israel and think your band or project could use a drummer like me, get in touch, and we’ll take it from there.
