Heidi Gellert

Originally from Denmark, singer/songwriter Heidi Gellert has a very exceptional sense of melody and a unique poetic lyric style. Though she has her own place in the pop-rock category she would best be described as Carole King meets Sheryl Crow with a touch of Norah Jones. Heidi started singing at an early age. Her mom recalls her sitting on the neighbors swing at age four singing her heart out. When she didn’t remember lyrics or melodies she would just make up her own. She had her first band at 14 that was doing gigs in the local area. They played a mix of covers and original songs and Heidi wrote several songs for the group. While taking a break from playing in bands to pursue acting and a job as a TV host, she kept up her singing staring in several musicals . Her love of performing has taken her to places like Greece, Los Angeles and New York. In the Big Apple she performed twice on Good Morning America with The Harlem Gospel Choir. In December 2003 Heidi felt very honored to receive the "Diamond Halo Award" by The California Motion Picture Council for her “Outstanding Contribution to the Entertainment Industry”. In 2004 She was also recognized by the “Song Of The Year” contest where she received an Honorable Mention for her collaboration with Myles West and was also recognized as “Suggested Artist” for her own song "Nothing We Can Do". Her curiosity had her explore other avenues for a couple of years but in the beginning of 2008 she decided to take up the music again . Her submission to the “ Song Of The Year” contest earlier this year resulted in another “Suggested Artist” recognition. She has enjoyed co-writing with Danish Producer Jan Winther from which the Demo “A Break In The Rain” materialized. While currently working on her debut CD, which is planned to be released later this year, she keeps herself busy co-writing with other LA based songwriters.
