About Me

About the Current Tracks:
Sixes and Sevens This tracks features an open loop guitar performance, as well as contributions from Jessica Grant and Jonathan Hyatt of my other band, The Black Pill. Jonathan played bass, and he and I both twirled knobs on an old Yamaha CS60. Jessica sang a very haunting distant vocal.
Hole In Thin Air This recording is two things: Electric guitar loops and a tape of William S. Burroughs reading one of his cut-up pieces. Heard alone, the spoken voice, the Burroughs tape, is pretty emotionless. But with the guitar loops behind it and the cavernous reverb, it takes on an atmosphere of immense sadness. Recordings of Burroughs's voice are like a zen mask. It's very easy to project an emotion onto them.
Pool Go Ommo Oglo Op A silly palindrome for MOOG LOOP. This is the first loop I've done that isn't electric guitar. For more, see:http://danielfarris.wordpress.com/2008/07/12/loop-music- and-timbral-diversity/
For Nikolas Pushkin I recorded this for a friend of mine who died suddenly late last year. He was an admirer of my loop music, which I had pretty much quit doing for the last few years. So, this is the first loop guitar track I've done in a couple of years. It's just guitar and shortwave radio, and it's pretty much recorded live, with the shortwave being the only overdub.
Fear (Is a Man's Best Friend) I had just experienced a "procedure" and was high on demerol and benzodiazepines. I got tired of sitting on the couch and watching DVDs, so I recorded this version of John Cale's amazing song "Fear (is a man's best friend.)" I'm not, by any stretch of the imagination, a multi-instrumentalist. But for better or worse, I played everything on this recording... in about two hours.
The Garden I was engineering and producing a record for the Humans, and they asked me to add some guitar ambience to one of their songs. It worked well in the context of their song, and I think it works well on its own. One guitar. No overdubs. ..

New Record(s) Coming Soon

I spent the weekend evaluating existing and ongoing recordings with a view to making a record I can actually release. I found that I have three. So, as Les suggested, I'm going to release twelve 45RPM...
