Easy on the beat with a punchy flow is the smooth talking, brashly arrogant; self acclaimed Del Boy of rap.
Brian ‘B.Money’ Manuh is a producer’s dream. He gets songs recorded in real time: that is verses then hook, no second takes. In the booth he makes it look easy but he is the first to stress ‘nothing is easy’. In fact he will tell you that he had to learn everything the hard way.
As a youngster Money was made to work for everything he wanted. Aged 12 he made a deal with his mum to pay off a computer she purchased on a credit card. He then spent the year working two paper rounds to keep his end of the bargain. For a young Money that deal was a baptism in enterprise. He would become known locally for fronting hustles such as selling shiny football stickers to snotty nosed school kids and fishing out golf balls hit into the course lake, cleaning them and selling them back to golfers. The older kids began calling him Big Money because he always had a new petty cash scheme.
Adopting the nickname B.Money began rapping in ’98 when his cousin told him about a talent contest with a £1,000 winning prize. The duo never managed to enter the competition but for Money the seeds had been sown. He would continue to rap but placed the practise behind other priorities such as his education and getting paid.
Now grown and all out of get rich quick schemes B.Money is taking his rap career very seriously. His entrepreneurial spirit still very much intact he has also set up two media companies: Creative Brain and Picture Me. Dropping the ‘Big’ from his name Money describes his new frame of mind as more tycoon than petty hustler.
With his laid back and effortless flow Money embodies the hustler who just happens to know how to rap.
