When you want to play the blues, you need to find a bunch of like-minded people. Thats not the easiest thing in the world to do, but when you do get it together the result can be the best vibe going...... In 2005, after an 18 year break from the the world of rock n roll, touring with his hard rock band, and recording 3 albums on the Polydor label, along with various other recording projects along the way, Reuben Archer and Sharon Marriott formed Their Blues-rock outfit.
Now into it's fourth year, the Archer-Marriott Band moves into a new phase. In the initial stages of its formation in 2005, the band never played two gigs in succession with the same line-up. It was very much who was available on the night. The nucleus was always Reuben and Sharon, however bass, drums, and keys would vary. Many players have guested from saxophone and harmonica to slide guitar, and quite often guitarist friends would step up to share the lead with Reuben.
For just over a year, the line up stayed the same, However, during the summer of 2007, along with Reuben and Sharon, the line up featured either Keith Allen, or Chris Williams on drums, Nigel Smith, bass, Steve Tams, Hammond/piano/synth, Paul Gooderhan, harmonica.
In 2008 we were joined by Cristian Noakes on bass. Christian hails from Birmingham, and has played in many genres of music, and for several years played in the popular Birmingham rock outfit Four On The Floor. Now he is juggling time between The Archer Marriott Band, session work, composing, and teaching music.
Drummer, Les Marshall, stepped in during the summer of 2008, playing many gigs, including the famous Upton Blues Festival. Along with his talented son Alex marshall, keyboards, he put together the footage for the two live recorded videos on this site.
More recent gigs have been seen by band and audiences alike, as the most interesting to date. These featured the return of drummer Chris williams,
Colin Browne of Barclay James Harvest, keyboards and vocals and talented slide guitarist, Steve Bratton.
During the past three years, The Archer Marriott Band has played many venues, blues clubs, Theatres, Bars, Festivals, as well as special concerts for various charities. The main thing is that the audience is into the blues, when the vibe is right it doesnt matter where you are playing, it just feels right.
