Growing up in the midwestern city of Louisville, Ky. Dj Orphic found his true calling in electronic dance music. After only one year in the local EDM scene in Louisville while in his teens, he quickly initiated his Dj’ing career by spinning at house parties in Louisville, Indiana, and Lexington under the Dj name Orphic. He soon followed through at the local club circuit in Louisville hitting up such clubs as the End Zone, Club Salsa, Petrus, the Axis and Main Street Lounge. During his Dj’ing career He has thrown down at Interfuse nights at Club Salsa with Bryan Zentz, the Rock Star Method with the Crystal Method, Underground Sound 3 with Aphrodite, Jackal and Hyde and Uberzone and countless other parties and events.These days he focuses primarily on fusing traditional DJ techniques with the use of the technological innovations at the dispose of the modern DJ. By utilizing Ableton Live and a various assortment of midi controllers, custom loops, and software synthesizers he seeks to defy the notion of what a DJ really is. “Dj’ing is about an artist interpreting all the music of the world in existence at that given moment in time and focusing only the music that they feel passionate about onto others in order to display artifacts of themselves.”If you have ever seen him throw down live then you can bear testament to the fact that this man won’t just play a track, he will reinterpret the track through his own eyes. Pushing through the limitations of simply playing tracks, his sets consist of production work that is carried out on the fly to heighten the tracks that he plays.He is a simple man, with one simple goal. Bring people good music and although he admits, “I wont always give people what they want, I will sure as hell make them want more of what I give,’ you will want more of what he has to give.His motto to you is, “Life is too short to listen to shitty music.” So enjoy his mixes or don’t, he would rather play want he loves and be adored by a few than play the shit that’s blowing up the charts for the false love of the masses.
