About Me

.. I was born Paul Louis Gonzalez and grew up in the Ravenswood Housing Projects in Long Island City's Queens, NY. The project down the street was Queensbridge, now famous for being the place where many of today’s successful rap artists came from. All I knew back then was, it was the place where a white lookin’ boy like me could get his ass kicked. My grandmother lived in Astoria, so I also spent years in Astoria, Queens. I'm the son of a Cuban woman and Puerto Rican man. When I was a kid, I had a hard time convincing my Puerto Rican and Black friends that I was Latino, simply because I didn't look it and I had eventually taken the German last name of my mom's second husband. It was my mom’s choice, not mine. Visiting my grandmother every weekend in Astoria, I used hide the truth of my Latino heritage from my tough and openly racist Irish & Italian friends in Astoria. Bouncing back and forth from Long Island City to Astoria, I became well rounded in terms of the music I was exposed to. On the weekends I jammed rock air guitar with the white boys in Astoria, and in the projects I played congas and drank Malta with the Puerto Ricans. I grew up listening to The Who, Queen, Hendrix, The Doors, The Beatles, Bad Company, tons of Doo Wop, Three Dog Night and more. Today, I also appreciate Coldplay, Jason Mraz, U2, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eminem, Snoop, and Nirvana. I eventually studied musical theater at New York City's American Musical and Dramatic Academy, and although a "theater guy" I'm surprisingly straight (although I wouldn't throw Mick Jagger out of bed, wrinkles and all). As a professional songwriter, I've written countless children's songs, adult rock, punk, and comedic songs. I'm the creator of the former nationally syndicated children's TV series, "Jelly Bean Jungle", a series in which I also wrote all the scripts and songs, and even worked on as a puppeteer. As an actor, I had 15 seconds of fame co-starring as "Marvin", on the ABC Family Channel and BBC series, "S Club 7" (Created by Simon Fuller, the creator of Spice Girls & American Idol). I regularly provide adult comedic songs for a comedy dinner theater in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I'm a proud member of Actors Equity Association, The Screen Actors Guild, and BMI. For the past few years, I've been very active in video production, and the co-creator & co-producer for the new reality series, "Astoria Dreams". I'm also a certified content developer for Reallusion, Inc., who creates 3d animated characters in an amazing program called iClone. I have a popular blog site where people can download these characters for free at www.myclonesforiclone.blogspot.com I'm married to Liz, the hottest Latina on the face of the Earth, and we have a beautiful, talented aspiring author & filmmaker daughter named Hali, who I wouldn't change for all the success in the world. My life is an endless unexpected adventure of feast, famine, rags & riches. And this is just chapter one.
