Good Morning, You're Late

About Me

Jordan Stephens is no longer actively writing music for Good Morning, You're Late. He is now playing in a band called Swallow the Sea . Go over to their myspace, be their friend, and say hi.

Good Morning, You're Late was created in April of 2005 by Jordan Stephens for a few, and only a few, mostly personal reasons. One of the first was a lack of any other musical activity while I started experimenting with electronic music. I was afraid, in a large way, that I would lose interest or lose my ability at least, if I didn't express it consistently. Like if you stop exercising you might become slow and sluggish. The second reason came as I began to get more and more into the world of synthesized music, I decided I wanted to create a group of songs entirely about sleep. At the time, I was dealing with a bit of difficulty in sleeping; and as a result, I developed a sort of fascination and respect for it. So in writing this music, I consistently kept that in mind. Just in looking at the song titles, you can see a bit of a progression on that particular subject. This is where I decided to keep the music solely instrumental. With such a broad subject, lyrics would, in my opinion, narrow what could be taken away from listening way too much. The lack of a definitive language makes it much more possible for a listener to take what they need from the experience, no more or less.
