Namaste!

About Me

"Even if the sun were to rise in the West, the Bodhisattva has only one way," -- Shunryu Suzuki
So who am I? Well, to start I'm 28. I'm really big into Indie culture - movies, music, fashion, etc. which are not mainstream. I practice mystic prayer, Zen meditation, Ch'i Gong, my own hodge-podge version of martial arts derrived in part from the ancient Teutonic form known as "The Way of the Open Hand", herbalism/alchemy, and occassionally tantric yoga (not to be confused with tantric sex, but...*giggles*) Some might call me "gnostic", which I am comfortable with, however I identify as Unitarian Universalist.
My latest fad is a combat sport/game called Dagorhir. It's a neat little thing where you get to dress up as medieval/renaissance historical/fantasy people and beat the crap out of each other with foam swords n' such. Yes, I'm a HUGE geek, and I'm proud of it. I love Star Wars, Dr. Who, role-playing games, Norse mythology, philosophy, political/free-market economic theory, and fighting vampires.
I'm also gay. I'm not your standard run-of-the-mill stereotypical "queer" though. I don't talk with a high pitched lispy voice, I don't whine like a girl, I'm not a "sissy" so to speak -- not that there's anything wrong with that, some of my best friends have been quite flamboyant, femme, or even drag queens. I'm also not some butch biker bear with a slave boy and a riding crop -- again not that there's anything wrong with that...provided no laws are bring broken and it's consensual.
I am me, and that's all that is important, and I just happen to be a guy who is sexually attracted to other guys. If you wanna learn about what it's like living life as a "fag", don't expect any stories that are too wild and crazy from me, you'll be disappointed. To me, living life as a gay man is just like living life as anyone else. The only difference is that my choice of relationship partners isn't "accepted" by the mainstream. I'm proud of who I am, but being gay is only a small part of me, so why not get to know the rest of me as well? You might be surprised to find out who I really am!

My Interests

I've got a wide array of interests, and most of them have taken me away from this piece of morbid machinery known as the computer as of late. So if I don't respond to a message or add request or whatnot right away, deal.I'm a Libra, so it's all about balance, and being a hopeless romantic! I'm really laid back, and I'm an uber geek. I like video games, anime, high-tech gadgets, sophisticated music, intellectual conversation, sci fi, fantasy, RPG's, strategy games, chess...the works! And don't get me started on Star Wars...

I'd like to meet:

A companion or three to join me in this crazy journey through life. I'm looking to travel the world, nae, the Universe, and I can't do it all alone, that would be boring. Who would join me?View All Friends | View Blog | Add Comment

Oh and what pisses me off?:

Music:

In no particular order: Depeche Mode, Oingo Boingo/Danny Elfman, Concrete Blonde, Lords of Acid, Sound Garden, Primus, The Flaming Lips, Pantera, Radiohead, Coldplay, Type O Negative, Switchblade Symphony, Skinny Puppy, Voltaire, Dead Can Dance, Enigma, The Misfits, David Bowie, New York Dolls, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Tom Waits, Pink Floyd, Franz Ferdinand, Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie, The Killers, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylon, The Charlie Daniels Band, La Bouche, TLC, Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Chopin...this list could go on for weeks, so pretty much anything, as long as it has musical value and isn't just a bunch of power chords and screaming or "Pepsi music".

Movies:

In no particular order: The Big Lebowski, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Mulholland Drive, Time Bandits, Brazil, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Fire Walk with Me, Lost Highway, Velvet Goldmine, Romeo and Juliet, Boondock Saints, The Lost Boys, Dangerous Liaisons (Cruel Intentions was a good ripoff), Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Vanilla Sky, Star Wars I-VI, Vampire Hunter D, Princess Mononoke, Killer Clowns from Outer Space, 28 Days Later, The Matrix Trilogy, Friday the Thirteenth I-VIII (the rest are crap!!!), Anything with Dracula in it, Phantom of the Opera (pick a version), Rent...this list could go on "ad infinitum".

Television:

Aside from the very rare occassion when I watch either Dr. Who, Arrested Development, Stella, Family Guy, Futurama, Innuyasha, or some really neat documentary on the History Channel or Discovery, I don't really watch much TV... www.tv-links.co.uk is my best friend, though.

Books:

I don't have a lot of time to read, so I tend to just skim through them here and there when I can, or dig through lots of wonderful stuff on the internet. I do occasionally sit down with something insightful, e.g. the Dalai Lama, books on mysticism, philosophical books, etc. Ask me and I'll tell you what I've been reading lately.

Heroes:

Alan Watts, The Dalai Lama, Sidhartha, Yogi Ramacharaka, Descartes, Pythagoras, St. Paul, Alexander the Great, Pope John XXIII, Yeshua of Nazareth, and all the other great Masters, saints, boddhisatvas, and bearers of knowledge and wisdom to our ignorant world.
