About Me

In 1985, André Aspelmeier started experimenting with noises and analog synthesizers, developed his skills throughout the years in various formations such as Die Hysterischen Klagelaute, Appi, Wrag Naroda, Subsonic Noise Logic Gradient Communication and incite/.His recent solo-project GradCom features spontaneous live-improvisations using software and found objects or locally provided acoustic instruments. ranging from PET-bottles to acoustic guitars, from a grand piano to an electric drill, from handclaps to noises of trains passing by overhead. GradCom developed a great variety of manipulation techniques, starting from scratch on every gig, without any prepared sounds, concluding in mezmerising performances on the edge of analog and digital. In 2008, Hamburg-based experimental electronics label fragmented media released "cuts+edits", a collection of 10 pieces, 9 of which are live recordings from GradCom performances in 2004 to 2005, also featuring co-improvisers Koutaro Fukui (Nagoya) and Gregory Büttner (Hamburg). A special feature on this release is a studio track, exclusively built from a single Harp Note struck by Rhodri Davies and edited by André Aspelmeier to a droning flow of electronic layers and textures.
