THE SAGA OF THE SOUTH HEAST HUSTLA:Lavalle Moore was born in Brooklyn, New York. In the late 70's, his mother ran away from home (NYC) to stay with family in Allendale, SC where he was conceived. She later returned to Brooklyn, and there, a star was born!As a child he found drawing to be his God given talent, he was able to reproduce anything he saw. This talent eventually evolved to writing about the things he saw in the form of song lyrics. He continued living in NYC with his mother until the 3rd grade. Once his grandmother retired, he left his mother and moved back to the south to live with her in Columbia, SC also known as “THE METRO.†Prior to his exodus from New York, His Uncle, and Older Cousins were rappers, they inspired him to begin rapping around the age of 6. His early influences in hip hop music were Run DMC, and Boogie Down Productions.LIL’ LAVALLE:Having made a new home with his grandmother, in South Carolina, he began performing at Hyatt Park Elementary School, during assemblies. Most of his rhymes reflected the popular 80’s theme “Just Say No†(to drugs). Lavalle, established himself as one of Columbia’s first young hip hop performers. He attended Allendale-Fairfax Elementary briefly, and returned to Columbia by 6th grade. During 7th and 8th grade he moved back and forth from New York to South Carolina several times. In Columbia, he began performing at the local skating rink, Red Wing Rollerway. Val gained notoriety under the name “Lil’ Lavalle†at all night skate parties, ranking no less than 2nd place each time he competed. “Back in the day, I was like The METRO’s own Little Bow-Wow... but, I wrote all of my rhymes on my own!,†he says.ENTER... E-VAL STYLES:In his early high school years, E-Val Styles became overwhelmed with more moves from the South to the North. In New York he and his mother where living at different residences, each time. So for him that meant changing schools and friends each time they moved. In Brooklyn, he has resided in Flatbush, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, and up and down Nostrand Avenue. He’s lived in Corona, South Ozone Park, and Jamaica in Queens; and in Deer Park, and North Babylon, Long Island. In a final move to Carolina Styles realized that The METRO had grown on him, he became homesick missing the stable environment that he had living in his Grandmother’s Columbia home. His best friends were in South Carolina, and his 2 children where born and being raised there. He still has much love for NYC, but he feels that his root’s trace back to the south, so its only right that he represents his slave ancestory from the Low Country of Allendale, SC. His heart is in The METRO, where his alma matter includes, Gibbes Middle, and Eau Claire High School where he was in the same graduating class as Indiana Pacer, Jermaine O’neal, known then as “6’9â€. He performed and won several contests at high school hot spot, The Midnight Lounge in the 90’s. In recent years he’s perfomred at Columbia venues including Mr. B’s, Club Malibu, and Studio 54 (formally the Boom Boom Room).THE NEW MILLENIUM:E-val styles has come a long way from rapping over instrumentals at talent shows, to owning his own recording studio, and producing his own records. His current project, The METRO Mixtape Vol. 1, includes an exclusive track featuring Atlanta R&B superstars Jagged Edge, whom he remains good friends with. The METRO Mixtape includes tracks from hot local producers like Rell a.k.a Trak Team, The Mighty Donshai a.k.a. Dr. Bombay, Young-Ba.k.a. Baby Boom, Jim Beats (old name, but he knows who he is), Bubski a.k.a. Skeet the Treat, Josi Wells, Cris Crack, DJ Blaze, and Joe Geter. The METRO Mixtape will be in stores soon...
