wally and the gators

Wally grew up in the Melbourne suburb Broadmeadows in 1964 at 15yrs old he co founded a band they called the Intruders playing around Melbourne in town halls and local dances they changed the name to the Squires and The HighTimes. Over the years Wally has formed many Bands and joined some as well. After moving to the Gold Coast in 1975 he formed local Band 10th Avenue and played on and around the Gold Coast. with a Resident Gig on Friday nights at the Palm Beach hotel which lasted for 4 Years and many members. In 1979 he went to Brisbane and formed Gerrymander and the Boundries a tounge in cheek new Wave Band where he Wrote and Sang all Orriginal songs. Then in 1982 he returned to the Gold Coast where he Formed The Firebirds a 50s, 60s, Band. And in 1986 He met Cletis Carr from LA who ran the Jam Session at the Port o Call hotel. It was on a Sat afternoon and Touring Musicians often came in. Then when Cletis left to form his own Band, Wally ran the session. Shortly after Wally then joined The Cletis Carr Band. Where they went on tour to North Queensland and got caught in a Cyclone and were holed up in the Crown Hotel in Mackay. We had some great times, at about that time, The late great Peter Wells of Rose tattoo and Lucy desoto moved to the Gold Coast and singer songwriter cletis carr from USA. Wally, Pete, cletis and Lucy all played together in some Great combos. Then in 1990 Peter Lucy and Cletis moved back to Sydney. Wally then went on to form and join other bands Then in 1996 wally and the gators played a show at the Brisbane Showgrounds a 2 day Rock n Roll festival . Then he put the Band on hold and played in other Bands. Then in 2000 he played with JOK"s ( Johny O'Keefe) Drummer. John (catfish) Purser, Who is a rock n roll pioneer In Australia. catfish still plays with his band catfish and the Dee Jays Today on the Gold Coast. Then Wally formed his own Band Wally and the Gators.They also play at the wintersun festival on the gold coast an international rockn roll festival with 2 weeks of bands cars parades and dances www.wintersun.org.au also check out our site at www.wallyandthegators.com.au
