Melancholy (Never heard song posted!)

About Me

Melancholy was a Woodstock, NY band from late 93' until 1996. The band came out of a scene playing early shows with bands like Oblivion Grin, Shabutie, 3, Lizard Boy, Blissfully Ignorant Sand ; helping to sew the seeds for a scene that still exists in some forms today.
Pat Howland and Chris Holseapple asked Morgan Evans to sing for a Battle Of The Bands Onteora high School project called Primal Chaos, where they covered "Iron Man", "Enter Sandman" and other songs badly...but eventually Jesse Cunningham came along on bass and the band Melancholy truly formed. Just over 30 songs in their time but loads of memories.
For several years they played local shows with bands live 3, Blissfully Ignorant and Shabutie to growing popularity despite crazy lives and teenage mayhem abounding. Ian Fuller came along briefly after Chris was out of the band before joining the amazing local band Mearth (one of the sickest bands to ever come out of this scene). Melancholy broke up shortly after and Pat went to Colorado. He came back and eventually played in bands like Preacher's Bicycle and Method Of Groove (which featured this guy Ashton Holmes who helped sign Shabutie and is now an actor in films like "A History Of Violence").
Pat sadly passed away a few years later and is sorely missed by us all. We are less without him but he is always remembered as a great, funny person and tremendous talent. We hope people can enjoy his amazing drumming here. Despite some of the songs being depressing they are representative of who we were. Jesse and I also tried hard to select tracks that really showcased Pat's percussion skills ("Scaler" is so insanely fast! Woooh!)
Morgan and Jesse went on to play in bands together like Fuse (myspace.com/fuseband) and Knucklediver. Jesse later also played in Long Ben (myspace.com/longben). Morgan went on to play in bands like DIVEST, Bleed Theory, The Electric Ten Inch & Pontius Pilate Sales Pitch (myspace.com/ppsp); most of which also featured founding Shabutie member Nate Kelley ( and Mic Todd was in the Electric Ten Inch). Currently Morgan sings for Acid Arrow (myspace.com/acidarrowband) & writes for Amp/Hails and Horns and Crushermagazine.com. All the bands mentioned have myspace pages. Check 'em!
Melancholy recorded a bunch of self released tapes and some live to DAT stuff , both in Pat's bedroom and even at legendary Bearsville Studios. It was a wild eyed time and some of the most fun many of us have ever had in our lives. Enjoy the songs and memories or if you are new to us, we hope you dig it.
