About Me

HotFreeLayouts Childhood’s End began as an acoustic duo. Tracey St.Clair a vocalist/lyricist, who has been singing professionally since the age of 14 but has known she was going to be a singer since she was 6, coaxed Tom into writing with her. Tom Slovik, a guitarist with about 20 years of professional experience – playing his guit fiddle (what Tom likes to refer to his guitar as) from a wee age of 15, decided to give writing a try. He had many melodies in his head but had never tried finishing them. Tracey and Tom started writing together in 2000 and found the songs came easy. Sometimes too easy. They would sit in the studio room in Tracey’s home and Tom would start to play something and Tracey would jump in and say, “ Go here”, or “How about this”, and then start singing some old lyrics or ones she made up while listening to the melody. Little did they know where this path would lead them but they were about to find out.June of 2003 Crystalphonic Recording Studios of Charlottesville, VA opened its doors and its owner Kevin McNoldy was a longtime friend of Tracey. She had kept in touch over the years and in March of 2004 called upon his services. The band booked time in the studio for June. Tom and Tracey knew that this was going to be a top-notch project with Kevin on board and needed only the best musicians for the job. Mike was a seasoned and extremely talented drummer in a band called Great Big Everything at the time. With, 25 years of professional experience under his belt, (playing since the ripe age of 10), Mike was definitely the right man for the backbone job. Tracey called Mike and told him about the studio recording session. Mike was also a longtime friend to Kevin and jumped right on board. The band was still short a bass player and needed someone who wanted to write original bass lines and also had the ability to write strong and catchy ones at that. Mike made a phone call to Chris Layser, a 20-year veteran who was performing with an original project by the name of Big Beat Tornado. He agreed to also make the trip to Virginia with the band. The group came together for a few practices prior to the recording session to get the songs down and off they were recording the big CD in Charlottesville, VA. Home of Dave Matthews – in the same recording studio where Dave mastered his last CD, Some Devil. What an incredible experience of doing what they loved 12 hours a day, every day for a week. What an incredible crew of people to be able to give the band such a phenomenal product in such a short amount of time. Most signed bands will spend months in a recording studio recording their CD to get it just right. Crystalphonic is so incredible at their craft they provided the band with a professional product in 1/12th of that time. The aftermath of the CD – Well we’re home now in Reading, PA and we’ve added another member to the band. She’s our biggest fan and one of the best female musicians in the area. You can see her play drums in the cover band Chromosome 23. Oh and did we mention she’s also Mike’s sister Misti Donahower. So suffice to say Misti has been playing drums since Mike brought them into their home. With 20 years of professional playing experience under her belt as well, you can hear Misti’s backup vocals and her percussion on our live performances. She is an extremely welcome addition to the band. The band offers, enormous energy, great songs and strong musicians. You’ll walk away wanting more, if you can walk away. The best part is they’re all easy to talk to, and the most down to Earth people you’ll ever meet. It’s a show you won’t want to miss, but don’t take my word for it, see for yourself. They’re coming to a venue near you I guarantee it. Pick up a copy of the CD – Voices, available at their shows early September or for sale on their website.Once you see this band, you’ll have a new appreciation of performance and talent as it should be and you’ll never be able to watch a show without both again.See you soon!KiraThe band’s bio writer and professional groupie, oh yeah, the lead singer is also my Mom.www.childhoodsendband.com or www.cerocks.com
