He is often considered the group's heartthrob.O-Town went on to sell over 5.6 million albums worldwide. However, the popularity of the group never approached the success of other bands in their genre. Once Making the Band had finished its television run, O-Town floundered. The members signed numerous contracts, many that didn't benefit them. Ashley, like other members of the band, was left without financial security, despite wide-spread media exposure. O-Town disbanded in 2003.[edit] Personal life After O-Town's dismissal, Angel embarked on an effort to start a solo career. In the meantime he has established a more normal life outside the public eye. In May 2005 he became engaged to Tiffany Lynn, with whom he now has a son, Lyric Lynn-Angel.[edit] Solo work In 2004, Ashley signed a solo deal with Blackground/Universal Records. His debut album was released on May 16, 2006.In 2006 Angel starred in an MTV reality series There and Back, which chronicled his life in the aftermath of the break-up of O-Town and his transition to a career as a solo artist. The show chronicled his financial struggles, the production of his new album, his relationship troubles and the birth of his first son. The theme song to the show was "Soundtrack to Your Life", a song from his first solo album. The song was produced by The Matrix following the firing of Soul Power as producers. The lyrics are: "Your life is, a flashback, a question, a photograph, a statement, a story, a struggle, a chance to laugh. Cause if you don't laugh, you cry, a last crescendo when you die, so hit the rewind and listen, to the playback, the soundtrack to your life."The first single "Let U Go" made the Billboard top 20. He also opened for Ashlee Simpson during her June–July 2006 tour. He was joined on tour by Devin Bronson [1], who is best known for his guitar work with Kelly Osbourne and Avril Lavigne. Devin played lead guitar for Angel.[edit] Other work Angel is known in the video gaming world as the voice of Alex in the Lunar series dating back to Sega CD and also made an appearance in the Sega Saturn game Magic Knight Rayearth as the voice of Ferio. In December 2002, Angel made a cameo appearance in the MTV cartoon series Clone High. Angel also appeared in the 1999 straight-to-video movie Longshot along with the other members of O-Town as well as many other teen celebrities such as Britney Spears, 'N Sync, and LFO. Angel has also competed on the television program Celebrity Cooking Showdown. The show had such low ratings that the finals were aired online as opposed to on television. Angel made it to the finals but did not win, partly because he lacerated his hand with a knife during the challenge. He also had an episode of "My Own" which appears on MTV (where teens can find people that are most like the celebrity of their dreams) based on him. He will be playing Link Larkin in Hairspray starting on January 2007.[edit] Solo Music His first single " Let U Go" debuted on MTV's Total Request Live March 14, 2006, and on March 24 he reached #1. The single soon to be shipped to radio station outlets is his first as a solo artist and his first from the breakup of O-Town. His solo debut album Soundtrack to Your Life was released on May 16, 2006. It debuted at #5 on the Billboard Top-200 Albums Chart, selling over 72,000 copies. It will be also in the 2006 FIFA World Cup video game. On April 1 2006, the song was the #1 on iTunes. For the week of April 29, 2006 "Let U Go" debuted at #17 on the Billboard Hot 100.[edit] Discography[edit] With O-Town Main article: O-Town#Discography 2001 O-town 2002 O2[edit] Solo[edit] Albums Cover Album information Image:APA STYL.jpg Soundtrack to Your Life Released: May 16, 2006 Chart positions: #5 (U.S.), #123 (Canada) U.S. sales: nearly 150,000 copies Singles: 2006 "Let U Go" 2006 "Soundtrack to Your Life" 2006 "Where Did You Go?"[edit] Singles Year Title Chart positions Album Certification US Hot 100 US Pop 100 Hot Digital UK TRL/MTV video play 2006 "Let U Go" 9 4 - 1 Soundtrack to Your Life Gold 2006 "Soundtrack to Your Life" 58 45 32 - - Soundtrack to Your Life - 2006 "Where Did You Go?" - - - - - Soundtrack to Your Life -[edit] External links Official Ashley Parker Angel on Haystack Official American Site Official German Site Official Fan Site O-Town Fan Site AshleyAngel-Music.de MySpace Unofficial There & Back on MTV.com Ashley Parker Angel on MTV Overdrive Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashley_Parker_Angel" Categories: 1981 births | Living people | Members of boy bands | Participants in American reality television series | People from Redding, CaliforniaViewsArticle Discussion Edit this page History Personal toolsSign in / create account Navigation Main page Community portal Featured content Current events Recent changes Random article Help Contact Wikipedia Donations Search Toolbox What links here Related changes Upload file Special pages Printable version Permanent link Cite this article In other languages DeutschThis page was last modified 22:25, 27 December 2006.
