SHA is more than a poet, author and writer. Writing since the third-grade, Sha has become a crafty wordsmith. Her ability to eloquently put words together is amazing. HARDER, her debut novel, wowed audiences worldwide but Sha’s journey isn’t an easy one.
A Brooklyn born '80s baby, Sha was always fascinated with words. Very early on, the world realized Sha's ability to write well. But, for the most part, Sha kept her writing to herself. She only released a few pieces for school performances.
After she graduated High School, Sha focused her attention on two things she loved: poetry and music. Under her other pseudonym, Cindy Love, Sha became a ressurecting member of Talent Unlimited at York College in Jamaica, Queens. It was there Sha discovered her passion for performing. Sha worked with AV8 Records, Arista, MECCA and Def Jam to put on talent shows and fundraisers. After a fall out with the club’s president, Sha put her hip-hop dreams on hold and resigned from Talent Unlimited. It wasn’t long before Sha and her buddies rebuilt Talent Unlimited and renamed it Triple Threat Talent. However, it still wasn’t what Sha was looking for."I did my poetry...I rapped. I sung in the Jazz ensemble. By the time Brina had the idea for Triple Threat Talent, I was already looking for something new." So, she continued writing.
While working at Waldenbooks (currently Border’s Books), Sha used her writing skills to persuade Wendy Williams to do signings for her first two books there. “It was one thing to have Wendy mention my name on the radio. It was another thing to have customers calling to tell me that she had just mentioned my letter that made me feel accomplished.â€
Sha found the change that she needed when her co-workers came up with the idea to write four short novels. They planned to incorporate them into one book. "Everyone had a book out and 90% of the titles were trash. We figured the least we could do was try." Sha took the idea and ran with it while her co-workers abandoned the idea. Five months later, HARDER was born.
Sha knew many publishers personally. Regrettably, she submitted her first manuscript to Ghettoheat Productions in October, 2005. On December 31st, she received the call that would change her life. A few days later, she was signed as the First Lady of Ghettoheat.
HARDER finally delivered the change urban fiction readers had been yearning for. Sha's fresh outlook took the industry by storm. “Being on tour made all the bs worth it. It’s the craziest feeling when other authors lurk at your signings. I don’t mean the ones that actually wish you well. I’m talking about the haters who wanna find out firsthand what you’re about. Get a life yo. Coming around to make it known that you’re featured in Essence is stupid. I mean, that’s a great accomplishment but that’s not how I measure success… Being loud and overzealous was never my thing. I’m like the Sun. The Sun doesn’t shout “Yo, yo, yo check me out.†You just look up; you see it, you feel it...it’s warmth invites you. Even when you can’t see it, you know it’s there. Like the Sun, my work speaks for itself.â€
After touring for eleven months with Ghettoheat Productions, Sha abruptly pulled the plug. "Its one thing to capitalize off of someone elses talent. Adding disrespect to the equation and I'm done." Her dream was turning into a nightmare so she severed all ties with Ghettoheat. She hopes to publish the sequels to HARDER very, very soon. "The sooner I'm released from Ghettoheat, the sooner I can release these sequels."

“HARDER is about many things but the most important lesson is defying the odds by any means necessary. Life is hard, you have to be harder just to survive. Yea, sure my sequels are on hold but you know what? Victory wouldn’t be as wonderful without some setbacks along the way. Who hasn’t struggled in manifesting their dreams into reality? There's going to be up and downs. I write; whether its lyrics, poems or novels. This is what I do. This is who I am. Who can take that away from me??â€
