[NEWSVINE: Grand Jury Finds No Misconduct In Convict's Death]
OMAHA, Neb. -- A Douglas County grand jury said Tuesday that police were not at fault when a convicted animal abuser died in his jail cell.
Under the supervision of Presiding Judge Dougherty, the grand jury convened on Monday to consider five deaths in police custody.
Anthony Schepis died Jan. 19. Schepis died at about 9:30 a.m. after inmates alerted guards that Schepis looked sick, officials said. Emergency personnel were called. Schepis was declared dead at the facility.
The grand jury returned a ruling of no true bill, meaning Douglas County officials were not at fault in his death.
The same ruling was made on the death of Milford Mitchell, who died in police custody on Nov. 16, 2005.
The grand jury continued deliberations on the other three cases.
