About Me

..
Note to trawlers: I’m happily married, and I am not looking for a date. I'm also the mother of a teenaged son and daughter, as well as the evil stepmom to two university-attending stepsons and a teenaged stepdaughter. Good looking kids, every single one of them!
I have many interests. On a creative level, I am the member of an Atlanta-based eclectic women's band named Three Weird Sisters; I also occasionally perform with a jazz ensemble called "Play it With Moxie." With these bands, I sing and play primarily upright bass. I took up guitar a a few years ago, and since then have been playing rock-n-roll with a band we affectionally named "OldPlay." I've introduced some of my guitar-playing to Three Weird Sisters. My newest musical endeavor is the duo I've formed with Mary Crowell, "Birds of a Feather." We are still in the fledgling (pun intended) stages of gathering material. It isn't replacing Three Weird Sisters, just offering another avenue for creativity.
Among the instruments that I can pick up and scrape a tune out of with varying degrees of success: electric and upright bass, trumpet, french horn, electric and acoustic guitar, fiddle, mandolin, flute, and percussion. I have a decent vocal range, and I love harmonies. In the last several years, I've been writing some of my own material, with very good feedback. Music has had a powerful influence on me for as long as I can remember.
My wonderful husband and business partner, George, is a talented musician in his own right. He holds a music degree from the University of Miami, and can play nearly any instrument you place in his hands: piano, saxophone, flute, mandolin, banjo, bass guitar and guitar. He performs with me in OldPlay, Play it with Moxie, and occasionally backs up the Three Weird Sisters. A true rennaissance man, he's a health coach who practices law, teaches music lessons, can fly airplanes, and make beautiful things out of wood.
My talented and adorable 16 year old daughter, Carly, is an amazing singer (think Pat Benatar, Jr.) and guitarist. This kid studies and idolizes Classic Rock guitar gods; she picks up her guitar during nearly every free minute that she has. She's also a talented painter. To top it off, she's a knockout. She performs with the Atlanta based band, "Jaded June."
My handsome son Nate, 19, is a natural born comedian and an amazing guitarist, songwriter, and performer, winning the 'Robert Plant Showmanship Award' at Camp Jam Atlanta in 2006. He's currently attending his first year of college.
My beautiful stepdaughter, Liz, has a gorgeous singing voice and is an accomplished pianist and french horn player.
My gorgeous younger stepson, Andrew, sings like a pro, plays keyboards, saxophone and has the hair of a 70s Rock god. He's studying music at GA State.
My handsome oldest stepson, Jeremy, is studying psychology and loves movies and videogames.
I am a fiscal conservative, and proud to be an American.
I love yoga; I hold a 200 hour teaching certification from the Dharma Yoga Center in New York City.
I am an Certified Health Coach; I support clients who want to reach and maintain a healthy weight and achieve optimal health. Contact me for more information!

What is is it with chain letters?

I gotta get this off my chest. I loathe chain letters.  I have never understood why I should forward a letter to my friends and family--people that I love and respect--that clearly threatens them...
