The Homeward Bound Project

About Me

The song you are listening to was recorded in the garage of my family home, by my Uncle's former band Green Magnet School.
My name is Brad Ford, and I was raised in that home by my grandmother. The first twelve years of my life revolved around her, and all my childhood memories were in that house. On my birthdays, summers, and all of the holidays I would be there, and she would too. I'd play in the backyard, we would walk to the beach just down the street, we would donate food to help the needy, I'd help her do the laundry, and she'd take me to Dairy Queen. My dad even taught me how to ride my bike in the driveway.
My grandmother died of bladder cancer on December 14th of 1992, and we buried her four days later on her 61st birthday. I was twelve years old and my entire life changed. In 1993 we were forced to sell the house, and my mother used her inheritance to feed, clothe and put a roof over our heads. My grandmother would be proud of her.
Since then, there have been many renovations done to the house and it has been on the market four different times. But it has not changed the integrity and it can never destroy the memories.
This is my family home. My great grandparents bought the house in the late 1930's, and I would like to buy it back. My parents were married there, and I would like to marry my girlfriend of 7 years there, too.
The Homeward Bound Project is an effort to get my childhood home back through the kindness of the cool people on MySpace. It will take $2,000,000 to buy the house back, and all I ask is a dollar.
So what's in it for you? Well, the Homeward Bound Project will not just go away if I reach my goal. I look forward to helping others, one at a time, buy back their family, childhood, or sentimental homes as a non-profit organization.
I'm also floating with ideas to thank people for their donations.
