Tahirah Whittington

Hey Ya'll, My full name is Tahirah ("pure") Khalimah ("word") Whittington. I was born and raised in Houston, TX. My higher education consists of earning my Bachelor and Master of Music in Cello Performance degrees at the New England Conservatory in Boston and The Juilliard School in NYC, respectively. I'm in the Doctor of Music program at Northwestern University. I began playing cello at the age of four and now consider it a fifth limb. I tour all over the US and have had the opportunity to travel to South America, Japan, Canada, and Europe as a musician.I've been a raw foodist for the past four years and love the lifestyle although I'm not perfect at it. I try to stay away from cold climates and cold people. I enjoy a good book by a skilled storyteller - fiction or nonfiction.Would love to be bilingual. I've delved in the following languages: Arabic, Spanish, French, and Japanese - and can't speak a full insightful sentence in any one of them.I love nature. I wouldn't say that I'm an outdoors person as far as athletically (although I've just started attending the Y to make sure I have the stamina for a full touring season), but I love being surrounded by trees, flowers, clean air, and the color green.
