2009 is the UN International Year of Reconciliation and we will be focusing on the cultural wealth of Belfast and the province of Ulster which for many years was hidden behind largely undesirable headlines.
The peace process has meant a new age has dawned for the region’s artists and creators from both sides of an ever decreasing divide. It is no more evident than in the diversity and quality of the music emanating from the region.
We have many well-loved events like comedy, Irish dance, Gaelic games but we are delighted to introduce some quality new events into the mix.
For the first time we will have Visual Arts in collaboration with the Gracia Arts Project, two specially chosen showcases of young independent Irish cinema and a really exciting outdoor event in live Currach racing.
For the locals it will be an opportunity to get hands-on, interact with, and experience Irish & Celtic culture up close and personal in the Cuidad Condal.
We hope you find something to move you
Enjoy,
Stephen Garland – Festival Director
