Radar was an active band in the 1980’s. It was formed by sideman/session musicians, and looked for sound tracks which were different from the ones they used to follow at that time.
Despite a 10 year career they recorded just a record, Radar, in1988. There are recordings spread around collections, among then, Cancioneiro, that was an album which used to get several artists together, singing songs written by Belchior, a well known Brazilian singer/composer. Radar has been Belchior’s support band for 8 years.
Nowadays the “long-play†RADAR is not in any label catalog anymore and, rarely, can be found at collectors stores especialized in vinyl discs.
Its formation was: Sergio Zurawski ( vocal and guitars), João Mourão (vocal and bass), Glauco Sagebin (keyboards) and Monsieur Parron (drums). The fact of not having more records and not focusing more soundly their solo career is due to the fact of having been a real “road bandâ€, where they used to spend most of time in tournées with Belchior. He was, at that time, for sure, one of the Brazilian artists who most concerts performed. He performed around 20 concerts a month, during the whole year, for years and years, just to have an idea! Brazil is a huge country, and it was usual to get to the end of a tournée through the country in Amazon, North extreme, and then go straight to the South, starting all over again. Just to have an idea, a flight like that could take up to 10 hours depending on the stops and flight connections. It’s around 4.000 Km.
Nowadays Zurawski lives in Lisbon, Portugal, and follows acting as a guitarist playing at the well known around the world Portuguese group MADREDEUS and at the COUPLE COFFEE & BAND. He is also a producer, and develops a career in instrumental music. He produces and composes soundtracks for movies,TV, and theatre as well. Besides, he leads the Zurawski Ensemble, a modern chamber music quintet, which mixes Portuguese elements in general (fado, contemporary, traditional music) erudite music, pop universe, and of course, Brazilian music.
João Mourão lives in São Paulo, Brazil, and follows acting as a bassist/producer.
Glauco Sagebin has been living in Manhattan, New York, since the 90’s and has been acting as a musician. In 2004 he released the album When Baden Meets Train, that was aclaimed by the public and by the especialized press.
Monsieur Parron lives in São Paulo and follows acting as a drummer/session musician.
