About Me
Jeremy Burgan is a multifaceted young musician based out of Los Angeles. He works primarily for hire as a freelance hired-gun, mostly playing bass or guitar. He has played on numerous film projects including two films for Evan Evans (son of Jazz Legend Bill Evans). He has also played in the orchestra pit for many notable musicals, including Dreamgirls, Smokey Joe's Cafe, Secret Garden, Peter Pan, Fiddler on the Roof, Big River, Pump Boys and Dinettes, Forever Plaid, Into the Woods, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Ragtime, The Last Five Years, West Side Story and Beehive, the 60's Musical. Educated at Cal State Long Beach, he studied classical string bass with some of Southern California's most respected players, including Francis Senger, Tom Peters, and Jazz studies with Harvey Newmark. In addition he completed a second major in Marketing, and has kept a tight focus on the Business of Music. While at CSULB Jeremy also studied composition and arranging, and also wrote for film. One film, with film maker Matt Kosinski, went on to show in numerous film festivals, including the Santa Barbara Film Festival and the Sacramento Film Festival. Jeremy is currently involved in a variety of projects. Most notably, Jeremy collaborates with his very talented sister Jessica, on original material, and plays frequently in and around Los Angeles. The San Gabriel Valley Tribune has referred to their music as "Sibling Revelry." He is also a member of the band Yearbook Pictures. In addition, Jeremy has considerable knowledge of lutherie and instrument setup/modification, and has begun developing and designing a custom line of hand-built musical instruments, starting with an electric upright bass, which is featured in the pictures section. An electric cello and electric violin are in the works. Please contact Jeremy for an estimate on one of these instruments for yourself.
