No Hawaii was founded in 2003 by the bloodbrothers Smejks and Biggus who
wanted to play aggressive hardcore. Members Gonzo and Ufuk Demir (Become
Ignition) were recruited and the first line-up was complete, although it
didn..t last that long. A year of line-up changes followed which resulted in
Ufuk leaving the band to focus on his other projects. In late 2004 Gurra,
Tore and Pete were added to the line-up and a tight schedule of live shows
and demo recordings followed. From januari 2005 to September 2006 No Hawaii
recorded 6 demos in 4 different studios and came to the conclusion that the
quality of the recordings didn't do the music (which by now had started to
evolve into something a lot more progressive with strong psychedelic
influences.) justice. A dear friend of ours, David Flood (Revenge of Lorenzo) tipped us about the great Carlos Sepùlveda (ex-Psycore) who acted as producer, engineer and advisor on the recordings of "Bruce Lee in Your Brain EP" which we recorded at his Studio, The Belly of the Whale in late 2006.
On april 20 2007 the realese party for said EP was held at Club Belsepub in
Gothenburg, and we played our best show to date! This lead to a lot of
positive reactions like the collaboration with filmmaker/director Joni
Huttunen (Music video that will be out in december 2007) and alot of attention from the media. We've had several amazing reviews in GrooveMagazine, Agonyzone.se and Rockharder-Reviews (to name a few) and a longinterview in Slavestate magazine (swedish only).Everything good has it's trade offs, however. Our sudden change of pace spawned some temporary line-up problems. In the summer of 2007,synthesizerman Pete left the band to pursuit his childhood passion of camels, now wandering the deserts of Syria. At the same time Tore chose to quit for personal reasons (he felt the band was moving too fast and ate too much of his time. In short, he didn't want to "quit his dayjob", as they say). 2008 started with a blast with new bassplayer Erik Ward (Mindfall) with a show at the amplified festival in Umeå sweden together with Cult of luna, Burst and Blindside! Whe also played with M.A.N and Vicious art and Entombed! Finally porduction of our full lenght album has started and will be recorded again by Carlos Sepulveda as producer at music-a-matic studios and Belly of the whale studio.
