In the beginning of th 90's it was a exciting period for most dance dj's. Out of the very popularç House & Acid house music many new styles developed. Many dj's start to explore these new different sounds of dance music. One of those early days dj's is dj Zen. He became a Dutch pioneer of psytrance... A style wich was inspired by psychedelics and flourished on the exotic beaches of Goa. That's why it got named "Goa Trance".
Zen ,Dutch pioneer of Goa trance, started his dj career in the late eighties. As a frequent visitor of the famous warehouse parties in the early 90's Zen started to develop his own style of mixing. Mixing a big variety of house music, techno and acid house in a nice flow. It was in 1993 he finally hooked up with some other dj's playing the same "Goa" style and the dutch psy trance scene was born.
Since then things run fast. Hosting clubnights at the Mazzo, Trance Buddha, Akhnaton and managing the record label Adodisc records. Performing all over Europe, Israel and Brasil in clubs, at parties and big festivals (Dance Valley, Mysteryland, Boom, Voov, Universo Parallelo). Zen earned a lot of respect and inspired many party peepz to dj and/or produce their own sounds!
In 2002 Zen focused on other projects than music, like graphic- and webdesign. But what is in will come out! His passion and fascination for trance music stayed so at least once a month he entered a dj booth to perform one of his famous smooth dj sets, full of surprising sounds!
During 2005 he produced 2 tracks with the help of Liftshift which can be listened here.
Now in 2008 he's seriously back on track! He picked up djing and producing again So the story continues….
