Thanks for stopping by! Donnell Garrett, here.Blessed to have been surrounded by great musicians and singers his whole life, Donnell grew up in a house of extended family which included grandparents, mother, uncles and cousins, all of whom displayed God given musical talents. Donnell grew up listening in on the family jam sessions. Eventually he would join in the family sessions when a soprano was needed. This is where his love for music, particularly gospel was ignited. Finally, this shy young man found a place to express himself freely. He hated doing Easter speeches, but give him a song, he'd tilt that big head to the side; hand on stomach; eyes closed...It was just him and Jesus.Much has changed since then. The little boy with the high soprano voice who loved gospel music has evolved into a man who loves God, singing His praises and sharing The Gospel through song. His big head still tilts to the side when he sings though. ...And Easter speeches, he still says "NO" to. Donnell is a member of the Progressive Community Church (Progressivecc.org) in Stockton, California where he humbly serves as Minister of Music and Praise & Worship Leader. Donnell LOVES working in the music ministry and has had the opportunity to be a part of such great groups as: Lawrence Matthews & Friends (lead vocals on Walk In The Light & Savior Don't Pass Me By), Robin Williams & Sacrifice of Praise (background vocals on recording "Show Me", Cathedral Boyz, The Sonz, Spingspiration, Monet (Lead/backgrounds on "Hurt So Bad", on cd "Mood Swings"), Bishop Yvette Flunder & the Fellowship Mass Choir (backgrounds on cd: "We Won't Be Silent Anymore"), and more. Donnell grew up at the at the Good Samaritan Cathedral Church of God In Christ in Oakland, CA where he was introduced to Christ. Here he grew up doing his best to emulate the singing abilites of Daryl Coley, Lawrence Matthews, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Bishop Walter Hawkins, Tramaine Hawkins and Edwin Hawkins. But it would be Donnell's grandfather, Deacon Henry Hunter (Donnell's Hero and biggest fan) that would show him the valuable lesson of emulating the message while using your own voice. He would stress "God wants to use you, not your effort to mimick someone elses talent." Donnell could then appreciate the ministries of those whose musical skills he admired. Today, Donnell seeks to use his voice to spread God's word through music. Watch & pray as Donnell couples his faith with works/action as he steps into ministry through music!Appreciating your prayer and support.Humbly,
Donnell--
