Johnny Is A Musician

About Me

I am Johnny Stevens, and I created this site to showcase some of the projects I've been involved with. I started performing with my family in church at age ten or so, and have trod the stage floor countless times since. I helped found what regional press called Pennsylvania's first speed-metal band in the early 1980's, continued with one of the state's most popular hard-rock/classic rock bands with my best friends throughout the rest of the 80's and early 1990's, and enjoyed regional success with current-country show bands into the new millenium. After a short hiatus, I attempted to reinvent myself as an instrumentalist (having previously been primarily a singer/rhythm guitarist), guesting on instruments including harmonica and lap steel guitar with some of PA's top blues, rock, and country bands. For a short time, I again fronted a classic rock band, and then started my current passion, re- reinventing myself and saturating myself in the world of Honkytonk and Traditional Bluegrass roots music. Throughout my life, I have always written songs, starting at about age 8, and seriously so at age 15. I've been very fortunate, as I've co-written with some well-known and very talented writers, as well as penning over 500 songs on my own. I've also been blessed with having situations that lent themselves to creativity, and have always enjoyed creative freedom in my band projects. I currently play guitar, mandolin, dobro, lap steel, harmonica, bass guitar well enough to play in front of people, and hope to learn tenor guitar, banjo, and maybe even fiddle someday. I also have a background in concert sound reinforcement, and have worked with some of my heroes, including Vince Gill, Conway Twitty, Jim & Jesse, Ted Nugent, Wolfman Jack, Porter Wagoner, Grandpa Jones, and many more. I'm currently playing dobro and singing baritone with a local bluegrass band, Pennsylvania's hottest bluegrass band, Mama Corn. Check out our Myspace, or Google us today! Right now! GO!!!
