..djnico has been a member of the Multikulti DJ collective since 1997. He has lengthy experience as a discjockey/producer and his crazy, unpredictable DJ sets have had dance floors sweating in countries such as Norway, Sweden, Denmark, France, the United States and Russia. Based in Oriental music, his mixes embrace everything from Brazilian and Latin American to African and Jamaican rhythms. Whether the style is bellydance, Balkan brass, bhangra, afrofunk, cumbia or reggaeton, it’s the rhythm and the dancefloor sizzle that unites the music. djnico is resident DJ at clubs in Stockholm such as Re:Orient Club, Zeybek Bar and Sodra Bar.What inspires me, is new urban music that draws on the cultures and global music styles surrounding it, just like in pulsating cosmopolitan cities such as Rio de Janeiro, New York, Bombay, London, Kingston and Dakar. The most interesting music is the bastard music that develops when people meet, mix and move.djnico has compiled records such as Re:Orient Club Vols. 1-3 and Re:Orient Vol.1 Festivalen together with Magnus Sjögren, and produced and compiled the African collection Selam African Remix.
