About Me

I am all about music. My family was very musical. Curly Rogers, my dad, was an acclaimed steel guitar player around L.A. and Redondo Beach in the late 50s/early 60s. He played with the likes of Red Foley. My older brothers were total acid rockers and Beatleheads who jammed at the house all the time. They played guitars and drums. That's how I was inspired to write and record my own music.I have played drums since I was eight. My brother taught me some drum stuff and then left me to jam with Blue Oyster Cult, Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. Couldn't find a better way to learn. When I was in high school, I actually got to jam a few times on some gospel stuff with Little Richard . Later, someone showed me a few chords on guitar and left me to myself. This early experience brought me to music as my main creative outlet (although I was offered a fine art scholarship one time). I've played drums in various bands and guitar and bass in a few. In the Potables, I wrote music, sang and played bass along with other talented writers, singers and players. The Potables recorded an album with Steve Albini in 1997, which was delayed for good reasons, but will be released soon. Now I'm writing, recording demos and working on a live act. My band is called Lithotripter (www.myspace.com/lithotripter). Please visit my friends.

Going It Alone

Why do I write the words and music, play instruments (no drum machines, please) and record my own shit?  Because it can be so hard to find committed players who can sing off one song book.  ...
