About Me

Profile courtesy of MySpace LayoutsJohnny Mike is a 38 year old songwriter from Tennessee. JM was raised on a farm just outside of Nashville where his family enjoyed a livelihood of growing tobacco, soybeans, and wheat. Dairy farming also played a vital role in the family agri-business. For him, farm life ment genuinely rich "country" exeriences to draw from and is reflected in his heartfelt style of writing songs. During high school, he found outlets for music interest by writing and performing with a few of his high school friends in their rock and roll band "Turbo." Later in 1991, due to the passing of his father in a car accident, farming activities ceased completely and songwriting became increasingly more important. During the next 17 years, he earned a livelihood in the tool & die and machining trade. He continued to write and play various songwriter nights in Nashville until age 25. During the next 10 years, writing songs took a backseat to raising a family, finishing college, and just "making a living." Although he has resided just outside of Nashville nearly his entire life, it wasn't until recently that he became serious about a career as a professional songwriter. In 2005, he became a member of ASCAP and spent whatever spare time he had learning what he could about writing commercial country music songs. After several attempts performing his songs for a performing rights representative at ASCAP, opportunity to submit a "demo" cd finally came. In an answer to prayer, "Dying to Live" became the demo song that accomplished that small, but significant achievement for him. Johnny Mike is currently active writing songs, playing songwriter's nights, and seeking a songwriting publishing deal.In Loving Memory Of Dad - May 13, 1951 - July 25, 1991
