About Me

Patty (PJ) has been playing her own guitar since Junior High and High School before she began to borrow her brother's 12-string guitar. Her motivation to learn the guitar was the same as Bonnie Raitt's. That motivation seems to have paid off, musically speaking. She is also known to have played French Horn and now plays Dobro resonator guitar and harmonica.Jerry (GWilley) bought a cheap cracked fiddle and took old-time lessons in a group when he was a wee and impressionable lad of 23. As a result, he soon obtained a better fiddle, but it wasn't until 20 years later that he finally learned to play it when his friends from Spudfest started a weekly jam called Dog's Choice. He still has a lot to learn.Self-taught on our chosen instruments, we have also been taught many songs by our friends in back rooms, in bar rooms, in barns, by wood stoves, in the woods and around bonfires, especially near ponds. We opened at the Nines for Technicolor Trailer Park on St. Patty's Day 2006 to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy (that night it was Jerrys' kids). It was a success thanks to all of our friends' support. We played in two tribute shows at Castaways in Ithaca, one to Johnny Cash on November 24th, 2006 supporting Books Behind Bars, and another to Creedence Clearwater Revival as the fabulous friends of Peggy LeCuyer in November 2007 with the proceeds going to the Bert Scholl family.Every Sunday, you can find us playing at the Nines Acoustic Open Mic.A project of ours is Freeville Music . We record the open mic session at The Nines in Ithaca and post the originals on our website. Click here to contact us about Freeville Music.
