SOUNDZ On Da Track

SOUNDZ (Marcus Gaskin) was born in Chicago. His father was a military man so him and his family were always on the move. From Chicago to California. California to North Carolina. From North Carolina back to California. From Cali to Illinois. SOUNDZ was always interested in music since he was a boy. "My dad plays bass and electric guitar. I think I got my love for music from him", says SOUNDZ. At the age of 16, SOUNDZ and his family moved from Illinois back to Cali. "We moved back to cali 'cause my sister is a hip hop dancer, and my mom felt that being in cali was a way better opportunity for the both of us." Soon after arriving in Southern Cali, he started getting into the entertainment field a lot more. "I figured that since California is the music/movie capitol of the world...i would get into one of them." He started being an extra on movie/t.v. sets. But that got boring. Then he tried music. He started making beats for fun. "I was using some cheap beat maker software from guitar center at first. Then I started learning about all the different equipment that can be used." Once he began to use better gear, his beat became better. And the beat making process became way more fun. In January 2007, SOUNDZ attended 'Musicians Institute' in Hollywood. He took the audio engineering program. There is where he learned his skills for the SSL & Neve Consoles. He also learned a great deal about the music industry there. He then got an internship at Private Island Trax. Now, his beats are far better than they have ever been. SOUNDZ is currently working on a project as an Executive Producer with his Chicago hip hop group "Quarter Ki", which will display his music production. "The album is coming along great. We're just trying to bring real street music out there and rep the Chi. We got club songs, hood songs, laid back/riding songs, songs for the ladies...everything. So be on the lookout for that Quarter Ki album.
