What in the world am I doing here? Well, I sure as hell ain't didn't come here looking for a date! You don't have to go online to find phony people in this world, and there are plenty of phonies online. I look at MySpace and the whole "social networking" concept as the online equivalent of Amway without the need to go sell soap products door to door...I just redirected larryathey.com to this page because I really don't have the time to mess with babysitting my own personal web site anymore. That, and the fact that my ex-wife blocked larryathey.com on their home network because I guess my web site was offensive or unsuitable (I guess she's never seen the stuff that our daughter writes here and in her e-mails). But, she didn't block myspace.com since everyone in that household uses it, that sure was an easy content filter to defeat. You can safely say that whole household puts the "fun" in "dysfunctional".
For those that don't know me...I'm a former full time musician now living the quiet life, but I still play in a weekend band. I took 12 years off from playing in bands, so I basically took the same number of years off as I had invested in it on a full time basis. My main musical project is classic rock and southern rock band called "Fossil Fuel" focusing on 60's, 70's and early 80's rock (with a few surprises) where the band is comprised strictly of musicians who haven't adopted the "good enough is good enough" mentality. Take my word for it, finding musicians in this area that want to do better than "good enough" is a major task. The primary focus of the band is to play the classics that the other local bands aren't playing, with a handful of original music thrown in here and there. The band is very heavily vocal harmony oriented, which really sets us apart from the others.
I started out playing drums in grade school, moved on to guitar in high school, then added keyboards to the list when I was in my early 20's. I started playing full time in bar bands shortly after I turned 17 and did that until I was 28 (yeah, I started out way too young). Had a good run at it and did quite a few opening acts for big name bands (well, they were big names at the time), but the novelty of road life and working for shit pay eventually wore off. I'm proud to say that I never played in a band that did cover tunes when booked as an opening act. It only makes sense, if you're in a position to showcase your talent, you certainly don't want to show people that your best talent is the ability to knock off a cheap copy of somebody else's hard work...Right? (That's how we ended up with artists like Michael Bolton & Alan Jackson, and TV shows like American Idol & Nashville Star)
I'm a die-hard rocker, the more complex the music - the better. Country music gives me a rash, so does punk, goth/emo noise, scream-metal, techno/industrial, hip-hop, rap or anything else based on sample loops. I'm also a full time optician and have my own side business called MAX Graphics . Yeah, I tend to stay busy with my "quiet life", but I like it that way. You gotta have something to do when you're not sleeping, right?
Oh, as for the "where's all your videos, graphics and other pimped out MySpace stuff" question...Who needs it? The majority of the MySpace pages that I've seen with all of those bells and whistles (flashturbation) look like an absolute web site disaster and take forever for the page to load. Old Vincent Flanders from www.WebPagesThatSuck.com wouldn't know where to begin or end with the majority of the pages here. Clean and simple works, because it's effective. But, if you're really desperate to see a video, I'll include one on this page, only one, just scroll down a little bit more...
