Ida Lorrine Brown, Cooper,Harbour,Lobban, was born July 14,1944 in Johnsonvillie,
South Caroline to the late Ella mae McGill Brown and late Luther Edward Brown
Ida is the tenth child of thirteen children.Ida started singing at the age of six. After accepting Christ at an early age.
she joined the Saint James Baptist Church in Johnsonville, South Carolina
under the Leadership,of the Reverend W.C. McCoy. She attended Bethel
Grammar School, Camerontown Elementary and Carver High School of
Lake City, South Caroline. From grammer to high school ida loved
History,. Science, English,Math.she also played on the Girls Basketball
team along with Mrs. Queenie Singetary Nims, now lives in Bridgeport.
know as Elder Queenie nims. What a Terrific team they had. Ida, also
Played Clarinet in the High School Marching Band along with award Winner
Doc Mckenzie the lead singer of the Gospel Hi Lite of South Caroline
Ida and Astronaut Dr.Ronald McNair attended Carver High School
Lake City, South Caroline.After leaving high school, Ida was married to Yankee cooper, on December 27,
1961.after A abuse relationship. my dear cousin Evelyn Gaskin Boling came
from washington D.C In November 1962 to South Caroline get her and her
frist born child, Angela Cooper. she took them to Washington D.C after staying
for one month. she decided to come to Bridgeport conn, to be near her Sister's
and Brother's
Ida joined the Trinity Pentecostal Church .Pastored by Bishop Willard D.Hyman
and Evanglish Mary Hyman.in 1963 Ida met Mrs Zadie Dawson who is now
Zadie Olden.who Become like a Sister to her. Zadie sing and played the piano.
They became good friends and decided to form a group called Norverettes
of Bridgeport conn.which consisted of three people Ida.Zadie and Ernestine
Boozer, know as Ernestine Gee.After singing for awhile sis. Doretha Allen and Evang.. Mary Hyman joined
the group.they changed the name to Sister Hyman and the Gospel Hymanettes.
later Margie Olden and Classie Duarta joined the group.In 1964 Ida left the group and moved to new york. to unite with her Husband
yankee cooper. it did not work out.she came back to Bridgeport ct. in 1965
and rejoined her group and church.they sung up and down the road for fourteen
years. they appeared on programs with recording stars such as Shirley Ceaser.
the Gospel keynote, Rev. James Cleveland and many others.
while singing ,Ida was doing other things, such as driving a school bus for
the Chestnut Hill Bus Company, under the Supervision of Mr.Duberry.
she worked at General Electric for three years in 1967 Remington Arms
for 2 years in1968. Ida is the mother of five children--two boys and
three girls-Angela, Timothy, Lisa, Calvin, and Connie,In 1978 Ida decided to take her children and move to Detroit Michigan. she
joined the Saint Phillip Baptist Church under the Reverend Hodge.she
joined and sang with the recording artist (Jean Reed) of the Original
Special of Detroit, Michigan. after the passing Sister Jean Reen. the
group broke up.Ida decided to sing with another group called the stars of
Faith of Detroit Michigan,where her son Timothy recorded an album
with them. as a keyboard player.In 1982 Ida was Married to William Harbour.there was no children
to that marriage. She decided to give up traveling for awhile and started
singing on the Gospel Choir at the church she affiliated herself with at that time.In 1982 Ida And her husband William decided that Detroit was not the place for them
so they moved to Richmond Virginia. There she formed a Family group
consisting of her two daughters Angela and Connie. Also her son Timothy
was the Musician. The group was call the Angelettes of Richmond, Virginia.
They performed in concert with Maggie Ingram and the Ingramettes of
Richmond Virigina.Ida also sang with her Sister's group called the Jewelettes
of Richmond.While living in Richmond Ida was the Assistant Manager of the Bambacus Hat
Company. and also the Sub Station #2 Restaurant. Ida is a Seamstress.she
made gowns for different groups.She played piano and was Director of the youth
and young Adult Choir of the Brook Road Baptist Church in Richmond. Reverend
Irby was the Pastor. As much as they was enjoying Richmond.they decided to
move back to Bridgeport to be closer to her parents.to assist them as they
were growing old.In 1985, Ida started promoting Gospel. At the early stages of promoting
she attended the Naugatuck Community College of Norwalk, Connecticut
where she received a Nursing Certificate. She Worked at St. Joseph Manor,
Trumbull, Connecticut. also the Jewish Home for the Elderly.In 1986, Ida joined the Saint Luke Free Will Baptist church . where the Reverend
Jessie Polite is the pastor.From 1986 to 1988 she directed the young Adult Choir
of the New Hope Baptist Church. under the pastor of Reverend Dudley.
while being a member of Saint Luke. In 1987 Ida,lost her Husband in Dealth.
she did not let that stop her from working for the Lord.In 1990 ,Ida moved her membership to Mount Aery Baptist Church, there
she became the Director of the A. V. Bass Choir. under the Leadership
of Reverend Frederick StreetsIn. 1990 Ida Retire at an early age.in1995 Ida met A wonderful man Mr
Hubert Agustus Lobban Born in Cuba,They was united in Marriage on
September 11, 1999. In 2007 Ida Joined the Union Baptist Church In
Stamford, Conn It is clearly evident that Ida is a very talented lady.
She could not do heavy work, She made a wise choice in choosing
to continue to work for the Lord.Ida have eleven grandchildren. five great grandchildren.also five Sister's
Lilliam, Ophelia, Ella, two Deceased, Lillie, Jaunita, Seven Brother;s
Edward, Calap, Phillip, William, Felix, two Deceased, Horace Lee
Allen Alvrise Brown.,.
