About Me

MySpace LayoutsStan Graham is one of a rare breed of songwriters who has a natural ability to show real emotion and capture special moments in life in the words and melodies of his songs. The songs he writes come straight from the heart and his lyrics are memorable and carefully crafted. He has already written an envyable number of songs which are destined to be classics. A successful career soldier for 36 years, he took up song writing and performing quite late in life. He started his musical career as a resident singer at the celebrated Black Swan Folk Club in York. It was not long however, before he had gained an enviable reputation for the real quality and depth of feeing he produced in his songs. Vin Garbutt was the first to recognize the strength of Stan’s songs when he recorded one of his most powerful anthems “Sarajevo”. Now his songs can be heard in folk clubs across England and Scotland and have travelled as far a field as Australia, Europe and America. It speaks volumes for his ability, that his songs have since been covered by such luminaries of the Folk Music scene as George Hamilton IV, Vin Garbutt, Martyn Wyndham-Read. He has played with Lindesfarn, John Wright Band, The McCalman's, Real Time. More recently he has been writing and working with Mike Silver and the internationally renouned pianist Terry Disley. With two highly aclaimed albums and a new studio album just released there has never been a better time to explore and listen to his music. Get there before everyone else does.
