Last Updated - 12.16.08 hey kids. it's the crayon, remember me? sorry i've been a ghost again. i do that from time to time. but that usually means art is being made. which it has been. for those of you who don't know, at the end of the summer i finished up recording my second lp ("velvet crayon") as well as a new ep ("potatoes & pickles"). winter break is within sight and i'm feeling creative.. i'm thinking that means new songs are coming. i'll let you know on the progress! happy holidays! -crayon.

Band Members: velvet crayon is a one man band fronted by erik paluszak. based out of south jersey, velvet crayon is a blend of many genres and influences with a sound that draws from the fickle and always evolving musical tastes of a self proclaimed music junkie.

on record, erik can be heard playing guitar, drums, keys, bass, ukulele, harmonica, melodica and all other sounds & noises, as well as vocals.

since it is impossible for erik to play all these instruments live, the set up is narrowed down to electric guitar, drum machine, synth & vocals; occasionally the electric guitar is put down for a ukulele or piano.

velvet crayon is constantly in and out of the studio record new material as well as playing shows around the tri-state area. so if you have a party, garage, basement or a venue that you would like velvet crayon to play at, just send a message this way and we'll see what happens. you can email velvet crayon directly @

Influences: top 10 musical influences of the moment [1.23.09 - 12:45 am] -- will oldham, neil young, the flaming lips, the brian jonestown massacre, the stooges, the white stripes, jimi hendrix, weezer, son house & sparklehorse.
Sounds Like: (take 4) - a scratchy 45 being played on a laser disc machine, directed by a mental patient drop out turned art school student who is comforted by fuzzed out guitars and the reverb of abandoned caverns.

hey kids.. so yeah.. i’m playing a show at the all call inn (ewing, nj) on april 12th (this saturday). don’t have all the info on it yet, but the show starts at 9.. and its $5 to get in.it...
