About Me
Crystal Balls began her career by accident! She was driving in her car down the freeway at 80mph, and was stopped by this gorgeous cop. The cop asked for license and registration, but Crystal stepped on the gas and ended up in a high speed chase. Finally, she was surrounded by a hot bunch of cops and had no where to run, so she put up her hands and said okay -- I'm guilty! All the press buzz created an opportunity for her and she was sked to participate in the movie "To Wong Foo, thanks for everything Julie Newmar' starring Patrick Swayze and Wesley Snipes. Her song was considered for the soundtrack but they decided to bury it in order to go "mainstream" and use someone that was popular. Since the song was fierce, it was released by HOT Records, the label that drag goddess DIVINE made famous with her hit "Native Love" Therefore, "Who Ya Callin' A Drag Queen", produced by Bobby LaSerra and Nick Lion and remixed by Chris the Greek was released on HOT Records and was an instant smash. It climbed the club charts and had airplay on radio mixshows around the world. Furthermore, it was the first rap song recorded by a drag queen in history! In New York, it was on mixshow rotation at 103.5 WKTU, Z100 WHTZ and 92.7 WDRE. Crystal Balls began performing around the tri-state area in clubs such as Palladium (Bump!), Webster Hall, The Roxy, Twilo, Tunnel and Splash. Furthermore, she toured the world and made stops in London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Athens, Mikonos (Greece), Sydney, Melbourne, San Juan, Atlanta, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, New Hope, Provincetown, Chicago, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Washington D.C., and Toronto.Crystal Balls opened for some major acts, including the Village People, Cyndi Lauper and Donna Summer. Finally, Crystal Balls started making the rounds on the TV talk show circuit and appeared on Richard Bey, Jane Whitney, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, E! Entertainment Television, Sally Jesse Raphael and many other, including some prized cable specials on Drag Performers (HBO - Drag Time). Crystal Balls also recorded follow-up songs that appeared on major compilations including "Greetings from South Beach, Volume 4" with her "Drag Medley" hit which included a medley remake of "I'm Coming Out," "It Should Have Been Me," and "Native Love." The other compilation album released was "Global Pride Collection" and featured the remix to the mega-hit "Coming Out" produced by the infamous Producer FORD of Miami. In 2001, Crystal Balls reviewed a script to play the lead in a movie that would reincarnate the life of super diva "DIVINE" in the movie "DIVINITY" -- however, the project fell through due to lack of funding related to the stock market decline. As you can see, Crystal has a striking resemblance to the late DIVINE and Crystal remains one of her biggest fans. Hopefully, John Waters will wake up someday and want to do this picture so he can bring back DIVINE's energy and build her legacy! :-) By the way, all of my songs are available although HOT Records is out of business -- you can search Amazon or google the albums and find the links to buy them!Crystal Balls is now in talks to create an online drag queen forum that will feature drag performers from all over the world. As soon as it is out and about, I will post the link here for all to connect!Crystal has also made special appearances in the videos of other artists, including Crystal Water's "Just a Freak" featuring Dennis Rodman, Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" (newer version) and as an extra in many Hollywood hits. Crystal Balls has also appeared in documentaries, informericials and interviews abroad. Please come back and check the site periodically, as I will be publishing some videos and information related to my career.
