I'm 27 years old, somewhat tall (6'4" to be exact), and I have an identical twin brother who is also 27...imagine that (people have actually asked us). I'm of Bahamian descent and grew up in Florida which means that I'm not too fond of cold weather...but I'm adjusting... slowly... very slowly. I consider myself to be an extremely driven, goal-oriented person. I was educated as an architect and have worked in Europe for famous architects in the past, but my interests are varied. When I finished grad school I started a company called Dioscuri (pronounced DEE-OSCAR-REE) with my brother that focuses on product deisgn. Our jewelry collection can be found at all Nordstrom stores and has appeared in the Oprah Magazine, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Essence Magazine, Womens Wear Daily, W, and a few others (see www.dioscuri.us). It's growing fast and it absolutely terrifies me. My brother and I were also cast members for the summer '06 HGTV design reality TV show hit, Design Star, so we ended up in Time Magazine and on a billboard in Times Square for a few months. Pretty weird, huh?
On the whole I think I am a "go with the flow" kind of guy, you know, I try not to make too many waves. I really love to laugh...I think you have to be able to laugh at life. I was actually given an award in college for having the loudest laugh. I also love going out with my friends but I make a special effort to avoid drama (unless it's on a stage or movie screen). I live for the arts, so you can often find me either at Lincoln Center taking in an opera or the NY Philharmonic, or gallery hopping in Chelsea. But don't get me wrong, I like wildin out on the dance floor too.
Hmm, what else...my brother has informed me that I obsess over small details while ignoring the larger picture. I think the larger picture is his job. I consider myself to be somewhat of an academic (I'm bilingual [according to my mom the first language I ever spoke was Farsi because I had an Iranian nanny], play 4 musical instruments, read esoteric theory essays written by people whose names are hard to pronounce, etc.) but I actually really enjoy "dumb" conversations. Yes, I'm a living, breathing contradiction.
I also have to admit that whiners annoy me. I don't do pity parties so please don't extend me an invitation. Hey, I'm just being honest. What else...if you haven't already noticed, I'm addicted to parenthetical statements (yes, I know that's random). I also have a penchant for fashion and am a lover of all things Gucci (circa Tom Ford...although Frida's growing on me). Unfortunately it's an expensive addiction, but I'm in a good 12-step program.
