About Me

My name is Kalista and I like to use the word fuck. And I like to think I can beat people up. On that note, this still deserves yet another update, but i've changed a little of it. I am now a vegan who still hates Bush and the charades involved in politics. I hate the expertise we award to the media, but am fascinated with studying it. I hate idiots and stereotype sorority girls and frat guys. I generally don't associate with them - not particularly out of choice, my personality and my genuineness kinda make us not get along the best. I hate how obsessed our culture is with power and money, but understand how dependent we are on it. I promote peace over war, but can't deny that every single one of us has blood on our hands when it comes to some connection to the defense industry (we have no idea the amount of money that goes into USC and other private schools from sketchy sources). I hate the discrimination (race, sex, age, etc) that our society exhibits - although we are all participants in that, one way or another. I don't understand how gluttonous we are as a culture. I can't even begin to fathom how we care so little about the digression we are taking in civilization and how very few people seem to care that Bush is using his presidency as a business plan. I am fascinated with the things I hate. I want to learn as much as I can, experience as much as I can, and develop my creative as much as possible. My passions are what drive me. I follow my emotions and what I am passionate about much more than I follow logic. Following logic only often leads you to miss out on a good or bad learning experience. We must take risks. You may find the greatest thing of your life, or experience the worst thing ever - but if you can learn something from it, then there are no regrets. I don't want to be defined by social conventions - but it is difficult to rebel without completely disassociating yourself from society. On a lighter note...I like to think I can surf, and at one point I could, but I suck super bad right now. I love to play tennis and racquetball and I'll kick you and your balls anytime you wanna face the wrath. I value my friends a lot and only really have close friends more than a buncha random acquaintances. I'm honest...brutally honest at times. If you piss me off or do something stupid, you'll know about it. I play hardcore air drums/steering wheel drums when I drive and blast my awesome sound system in my awesome little orange Element (which I got before anyone else, let me tell you - in order to be anti-trendy). I miss my cats and my dog, but at least I have my 1 best friend Buster my ball python (my chameleon passed this summer, sadly). I get my release by painting or writing or sketching or playing piano or designing. I'm obcessed with music. I freak out at concerts...I love it. I don't mind being stared at awkwardly, so I just do whatever I want. I've come to the realization that we're only here for so long, so I should enjoy it while I'm here. Because once I'm dead, no one will remember any of the little things I did. All the stresses over grades and what so-and-so said mean nothing...so just focus on being happy and content. I have no regrets. I take everything as a learning experience. I love San Diego (although I'm starting to like it less and less the more it turns into LA), and hate LA - but this is what I get for paying a shitload of money every year to get a "good" education. I'm a communication major, not the typical sorority girl though, who is no longer minoring in advertising. I've recently decided to go into humanitarian/non-profit work instead of doing advertising. I want to do good in this fucked up world, and actually be productive. I want to make an impact on someone's life and help people live better ones. We take everything for granted here, and I want other people to be able to experience even a glimpse of the life we have. But aside from that, I'm not one of those depressed pessimistic people all the time...just like to think about shit, that's all.If you wanna check out more of my pictures when you're bored: photobucket.com/albums/c275/beachgrly03

My Interests

My Interests are: music, designing, surfing, snowboarding, music, painting, sketching, cuddling, dancing, music, politics, going out for coffee and talking about everything I just listed as well as bitching about people, poker, pool, and anything that I might possibly have a chance at kicking your ass in, being myself and being with friends

I'd like to meet:

ADD LIVIDITI AS YOUR FRIEND (it's my clothing company that I'm working on) - spread the word, give me feedback, all that good stuff...

Music:

is my life...all that remains, a dozen furies, i killed the prom queen, thrice, as i lay dying, avenged sevenfold, it dies today, atreyu, underoath, bullet for my valentine, every time I die, rise against, killswitch engage, chiodos, finch, the faint, the used, the juliana theory, matchbook romance, lost prophets, the fire theft, number one fan, acceptance, abandonded pools, armor for sleep, damien rice, elliot smith, explosions in the sky, frou frou, imogen heap, the jealous sound, jem, joseph arthur, kill hannah, last days of april, magnet, morcheeba, theivery corporation, evermore, and more....good shit.VOICES I WOULD FUCK (if that was possible): Burt (the Used), Craig (Chiodos), Cedric (The Mars Volta), Imogen Heap, Nate (Finch), Ben (All That Remains)

Movies:

Little Miss Sunshine (first movie in a long ass time to make me really laugh), The Weather Man, Rize, Lord of War, V for Vendetta, The World's Fastest Indian (an awesome kiwi movie), Closer, Napoleon Dynamite, The Notebook, The Motorcycle Diaries, Love Actually, The People vs. Larry Flynt, Ray, Breakfast at Tiffany's, A League of Their Own, Farenheit 9/11, Riding Giants, Garden State, Swimming Pool, Shattered Glass, Before Sunset, Vanilla Sky, Saved, and COOL RUNNINGS is by far the greatest movie ever!!!

Television:

Arrested Development is seriously the greatest show of all eternity - it's a shame our country is too dumb to recognize this and this falls by the wayside while shows like "The War at Home" succeed. WTF?! Simpson and Family Guy are classics, Adult Swim (ATHF, Robot Chicken, Harvey Birdman), Curb Your Enthusiasm, Flight of the Concords, Extras, The Office (I liked the REAL british version way before the american version came out, but our version is still good), 30 Rock, House, Pushing Daisies, LA Ink. I dunno. Good stuff. No sitcoms.

Books:

"Sex, Lies and Politics" by Larry Flynt - if you are a Bush hating liberal like me, you NEED to read this book. He is a wonderful man for expossing the political crap that he does. "The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams (better than the movie, but the movie is funnier if you've read the book - you'll understand more), plus the trilogy sequal. "The Outlaw Bible of American LIterature" is an awesome collection of excerpts from some really cool work. I suggest it, or reading the books it features work from. I'm reading "The Motorcycle Diaries" and "On The Road" right now. Necessary reads I think. I'm trying to read some other stuff, but I really am not into reading all that much besides at night before I fall asleep

Heroes:

BEAR fucking GRILLS.....and people who actually take the time to think about life and this world we live in...which isn't many of us. We're all too busy getting drunk and wasting time "tuning out" and doing nothing that stimulates our mind. So my heros are people who actually do things with their lives other than just watch tv or mindless movies or play viedo games or get drunk or high.
