Felipe Gomez
I was born and raised in East New York, Brooklyn and became involved in boxing at the age of twelve. I had over one hundred amateur fights which included
winning the Junior Olympics, the Kid Gloves, the New York Golden Gloves two times each, the Spanish Gloves, the Empire State Games, the Metropolitan and Bi-State Championships. I have also had the opportunity to compete in several National &
International competitions. Recently, I competed and won the Long Island Championships in the Master's division. My boxing career did not end when I stopped fighting. Instead, I continue to train boxers and I am a certified USA Boxing trainer and professional manager licensed by the NYS Athletic Commission. I am currently training both professional and amateur boxers out of New Legend Boxing Club in Ozone Park, Queens.

The beginning of 2003 was a period of time that my life veered off into its own unexpected and unpredictable journey. As an immature and inexperienced fighter, two failed attempts at the New York Golden Gloves would lead me to realize the difficulties that lie ahead. At a young age of 19, I set forth a goal to win the 2005 Golden Gloves which, at this point, was only a dream. With hard work and dedication to my craft, I not only captured the 2005 Golden Gloves, but was also named the "Fighter of the Tournament". I didn't stop there but went against the odds and captured a GOLD medal in the U.S. Championships ranking me #1 in the U.S.A. Once I was ranked, my career took off and I had the opportunity to represent the United States as a participant and captain of the U.S. Team in the World Championships in Ming Yang, China, the World Cup in Moscow, Russia and a Dual Meet in Budapest, Hungary.
After 2005, under the tutelage of Felipe Gomez and Jimmy O'Pharrow, I went on to win the Golden Gloves again in 2006, 2007 and 2008 making me the first and only light heavyweight in 81 years to win this tournament 4 consecutive times. With this under my belt and a professional boxing career staring me right in the face I had a decision to make. Graduating from Queens College with a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education, I wasn't sure which career I would pursue. With some time to think and a plan to create, I chose my route in life which is to be a World Champion. Between my hard work and tough style, which many people consider "intelligent aggression", I now have a dream. I do what I love and I love what I do. To top it all off I now train at my own gym...New Legend Boxing Club!
