About Me
Six Degrees of Separation was formed 4 1/2 years ago as a Power Pop trio with the ultimate destination of recording and performing strong definitive original music. With the trio being the best format,in that the rawness and edge of real rock music has always been best served by the classic format of "Guitar,Bass and Drums",6DOS began their oddessy into the Chicago rock world.6DOS has been playing in most of the major clubs in the suburbs over the last few years, but now is venturing into the city scene.Guitarist and Vocalist Rich Dahl has played in the Chicago area for many years, fronting various bands from Watz in the 80's to the band Ready For Ransom in the middle 90's.His roots go back to Los Angeles and playing with members of the Blasters, before they were the Blasters.Bill Bateman, from the Blasters, was the drummer in several of Rich's bands in California. And both Dave Alvin and John Bazz having copies of the 6DOS cd "Is This England",which is available at shows.Rich plays a Les Paul and a '62'Strat,and sometimes his Gibson SG custom through a Marshall JCM2000 60 watt. His versatility in playing styles gives each 6DOS song it's own life and feel. Scott started playing at the age of 15 in the High School band, with his first "Rock"band at age 16,and he has never looked back or stopped rockin'.Having played throughout the years in bands and clubs/bars in Chicago and Los Angeles, has helped him hone his strong simple style,as the perfect backbone to Rich's melodic tunes. He plays a vintage Slingerland kit named,"Black Beauty",and also a very modern Tama kit named "Snow White".Both are complemented with Zildjian A cymbals,Evans G2 coated skins and the energy is all transfered through Vic Firth model SAF sticks.Bass player D.D. Dierking, has that special "feel" for the bass that adds just the right amount of rumble to fill in the bottom end.Though she has only played for a few years, that seems to add a freshness to her playing that is infectious. She bounces around the stage and gives a feeling of fun to what is going on onstage. She has played on and off as a guest Bass player with several suburban bands, and is constantly working on her craft. She plays both a Fender Jazz Bass and her "Pride and Joy",her "64"Gibson EBO,a classic! She plays through a Mesa Boogie 100 watt amp that "Shakes the Room".Her influences are Jack Bruce and John Paul Jones.Together, they are "6 Degrees of Separation". The skies the limit for them!!
