{the entrance to my favorite dead mall; Newmarket Fair Mall in Hampton, VA}I'm going to try to make my "about me" section sound like a Wikipedia article:
"Anita Rose (born June 20, 1983) - also known as Anita from Anita's Daily Show Page , and "deadmallsanita", is a "old" college student, assistant editor to deadmalls.com , retail historian, and former Daily Show Superfan.
Personal Life
Rose was born Anita Elizabeth Rose in Hampton, VA . Rose lived in Hampton until 2000 when her family moved to Wakefield, VA . As a child she attended Francis Asbury Elementary School, Benjamin Syms Middle School, and graduated from Kecoughtan High School in 2001.
In September of 2001, she made a disasterious error of attending Kee Business College , where she graduated with a "degree" in Computer Office Applications. The descision to attend Kee instead of taking a year off and attending community college was a mistake that Rose regretted for many years. Going to the school left Rose unemployed for a year, due to companies not wanting to hire a student from the unaccredited school.
In August of 2003, Rose enrolled at Thomas Nelson Community College in Williamsburg, VA . She stayed there for two semesters, but left in May of 2004 because she had become bored, and felt like she never fit in. In May of 2004, Rose started a job at The Fresh Market also in Williamsburg where she worked as a Courtesy Clerk . Rose worked at Fresh Market until March of 2005 when she decided to go back to college.
In April of 2005, she originally enrolled at John Tyler Community College in Chester, VA , but changed her mind at the last minute and intsead enrolled at Paul D. Camp Community College. Rose is scheduled to graduate in May of 2008 with a General Studies Associate Degree. In March of 2008, she was accepted into Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA , and plans to attend there beginning in August of 2008. It is unclear what her major will be.
Projects
Rose's first website was created in March of 2000, and it was a fansite about former Daily Show correspondent, Vance DeGeneres . [1] .Rose updated this site until 2003 when it became harder to catch DeGeneres on TV. DeGeneres and Rose still keep in contact with one another to this day, though.
From July of 2000, to April of 2005, Rose ran a fansite about The Daily Show with Jon Stewart entitled Anita's Daily Show Page . The site included screencaptures and transcripts from Daily Show episodes from 1997 to early 2005. Rose stopped working on the site when she became uninterested with the show, citing that it had become "boring". The site is now just an archive.
From September of 2002 to April of 2005, Rose ran a fansite about another former Daily Show correspondent, Ed Helms [1] . Helms was very flattered by this website, and brought it up as one of his favorite websites in the very first issue of Giant Magazine in October of 2004. Helms and Rose no longer communiciate.
In April of 2005, Rose created a weblog about comings and goings of retail in the Hampton Roads area entitled That Mall's Sick and That Store's Dead! . Rose still keeps up with this site. Rose has been interesed in retail ever since she was a child and she watched Newmarket Fair Mall in Hampton quickly die and become an office complex.
In 2005, Rose's friend, Brian Florence asked if she would like to be assistant editor to deadmalls.com , a website about dying malls in the United States and Canada. Rose accepted and has been editor ever since.
