At the age of 11, her parents arranged a cheap saxophone for Anne, as she wouldn't stop talking about wanting to play this awesome instrument ;-) As the rest of the family didn't really play any instruments, they thought it was just a temporary thing.. Together with the saxophone she got a "How to learn to play the saxophone"- book and started to teach herself how to play the instrument. After a couple of months she got some lessons at the local windband but as she knew 'how to get sound out of the instrument' she was allowed to join the actual wind- orchestra where she played till she was 19 years old. Before finishing highschool someone from her local windband suggested to go to the Rotterdam Conservatory, NL to get a real lesson on the instrument for a change, to see how and if she would like it. Before she knew it, she did audition for the preparatory course at this conservatory and studied classical saxophone with Professor Tom de Vette. After 2 years she went to the official Bachelors Degree of the Rotterdam Conservatory. After 3 more years studying with Professor Tom de Vette, she studied the last 2 years with Professor Arno Bornkamp. In summer 2006 she graduated and after receiving the Fulbright Scholarship, the VSB Scholarship, a Boston Conservatory Full Scholarship, she crossed the ocean to go and live in Boston for 2 years. Here she's obtained her Graduate Performance Degree at the Boston Conservatory where she studies with Professor Ken Radnofsky. Her interests these 2 years were towards improving her solo and chamber music skills, contemporary and jazz improvisation skills, conducting and arranging.
Since january 2009 Anne is back in The Netherlands, trying to make a living with music and her instruments by teaching, playing, arranging and composing.le
