The Get Free are a new up and coming mellow reggae acoustic band from Stratford on Avon. Fronted by former Hotrocks members Liz Lawrence (Vocals and guitar) and JJ Gray (Bass Guitar) they are trying to take their music to a new level and bring a fresh wave of talent to the scene. Formerly known as JJizz, The Get Free have played with big local acts such as A Certain Shade, Cueball 8 and The Dr. Teeth Big Band.
Recently 2nd place in the first round of battle of the bands, yet the review in the Stratford Herald was full of positive comments, I quote:
"The final act, The Get Free, brought a large dose of originality with them on stage- something which had been so far been lacking in the other bands. They had an almost Caribbean feel and the understated Female lead was in stark contrast to the in-your-face style of The Barbarellas- her talent really shone through. Additional percusion and doses of trumpet also added to the well written songs and musicianship. A superb cover of Nina Simone's 'Feeling Good' gave the night a rousing finish. The Get Free got my vote."
