"I Wasn't Born With The TALENT, I Was Born With The PASSION."
-JT Hernandez
JT Hernandez is the next biggest upcoming R&B rapper. Many rappers that hail
from the Bay express music through "Go Dumb" And "Hyphy". It's very rare to
find a Bay rapper who speaks on Love and similar emotions as JT Hernandez
does. Thats what makes him so unique and outstanding from the rest. Born
James Kenneth Hernandez Trisler in San Leandro, CA on February 27th 1991, JT
grew up in many different environments such as Modesto, Arizona, LA, San
Leandro, and currently resides in Fremont. Growing up as a kid, he never really
was exposed to Rap/Hip Hop music. His Mexican/Spanish cousins who DID listen
to Hip Hop were never really able to hang out with JT, due to his mom's drug
abuse. So JT grew up with his Irish/German side of his family for all of his life,
being raised around old school rock n' roll. Around 4th grade JT finally found his
passion for music by teaching himself how to play the drums. Around 6th grade
JT had joined a rock band and even earned radio play during the year he was
with them. He quit after about a year when his desire for rock music had faded.
As his rock n' roll era ended, JT had started writing poetry to express his
emotions of everyday life. He mainly would write about his family and how sad
he was that he rarely saw his mother and the rest of his Latino family. 8th
grade was the lowest point in JT's life. On March 25th, 2005 JT found out that his
mother had passed away. Life was hard and depressing for JT at that time, but
he kept strong through revealing his emotions in his poetry. Soon after JT began
turning his poems into lyrics as he had been introduced to Rap/Hip Hop in his
7th grade year. With no intention to start a rapping career JT wrote his lyrics for
fun purposes only. As a year passed by JT's lyrics became greater and greater
but he still had no passion to begin a career in Hip Hop. In his early Sophomore
year, JT discovered that many of his friends had started rapping careers and
many knew of his skilled lyrics. They persuaded JT to try recording. Big Nic,
who JT had known since 1st grade, invited JT to his home studio to do the
recordings. On December 23, 2006 JT Hernandez recorded his first song titled
"Said I Couldn't Do It" and released his first song titled "Chevy Girl" on the same
day. To a surprise, JT loved rapping and everyone who heard his music loved it
too. JT began writing more songs and recording more. He started his career as
a Club rapper, writing tracks that made people dance and are made for a club
environment. In early 2007, JT was introduced to a friend of Big Nic's, Kenny K.
Kenny K had been rapping for a while and saw a lot of potential in JT. So Kenny
K began working with JT and showed him everything he knew about Hip Hop. As
their relationship as friends grew, Kenny K proposed an idea to JT about starting
their own rap group. JT agreed and thus "Stunna Boyz" was made. Before Stunna Boyz could rejoice in success, many problems occurred as to who was in
the rap group and who wasn't. After a long confusing discussion, only two were
left to remain as Stunna Boyz. Kenny K and JT Hernandez, who were the first
two in it, decided to keep it as only a duo. Early in the summer of 2007, Stunna
Boyz changed their name to Y&S, or Yung & Stuntin and admitted a new
member, named Yung Luv. After a few performances and much hype of Y&S's
future success, they began to fall apart and Yung Luv was dismembered from
the group for personal problems. Problems began to arise between Y&S and
Yung Luv that escalated over a series of tracks released, though no physical
altercations occurred. As the summer ended, Y&S had become a disappointment
and JT and Kenny K continued their beef with Yung Luv. JT's Junior year began
and he was introduced to two other musicians in his new ROP class. Fuzzion was
a very experienced producer and Villan was a highly skilled underground Hip
Hop rapper. The three began working heavily together and before long became
the closest of friends. For the first time in his life, JT was asked to sign with a
record label, an underground label that had plans to make something out of
nothing. JT's close friend Villan was the founder, and JT agreed to sign with the
record label. As JT signed with Lunatic Team ENT, another record label, So Sikk
ENT, became angry with JT for signing with LT because they had made an effort
to sign JT, though he rejected the offer. A strong beef started between Lunatic
Team ENT and So Sikk ENT. So Sikk started the beef by talking down to
everybody in Lunatic Team and claimed that they would never make it big. Many
tracks were made about each record label, but again no physical altercations
occured due to the fact that So Sikk admitted of being too scared of the Lunatics.
As many months passed, Lunatic Team still remained, but nobody was taking
any actions to get the label out there. After a long talked out meeting with the
Lunatic Team, Kenny K, JT Hernandez, and Big Nic decided it was best to leave
the label and attempt their success somewhere else. Villan, the founder of the
Lunatics, became very angry with the decisions and problems emerged. The
heaviest beef was between Villan and JT Hernandez. No tracks were made about
one another, though a physical altercation took place. Villan packed up and left
California in an attempt to better his music conditions. After this Kenny K began his long thought idea of making his
own label. JT knew the skills that Kenny K had in business, and the leadership
skills he had also, and agreed that Kenny K would be the best one to try and
start his own label. Recently Kenny K has begun his plan to create his own
record label, but nothing big has happened yet. JT also decided to part ways
with Y&S, realizing that he can get farther solo. He also has ended his involvements with Kenny K's, now "YS-$tacks", Moz Wanted ENT. record label. JT also ended all the beefs he's ever had including those with So Sikk ENT, Yung Luv, and Villan in an effort to focus more on his music. Now JT
Hernandez is in the highest peak of his rapping career so far, and believes his peak will only grow higher and higher as his rap career continues. Though he has had no radio play, or big names on his tracks, his debut album is highly anticipated. "City Lights" is being worked on at this moment, and it is hoped to hit stores in 2009. JT Hernandez is willing to collaborate with any
rapper/singer and does not charge for his verses or hooks. He also loves talking
to his fans from all over the country, so feel free to leave a message or a
comment.
