1 : DJ Nique, born and raised in the north east side of Bronx, New York, is best known to be the most versatile DJ in Buffalo, NY. He became aware of hip-hop at an early age. “My oldest brother, Harold, would blast Video Music Box and tapes of The Tribe Called Quest, Gangstarr, The Ghetto Boys and other raw ass artists who were in the game for the love of Hip-Hop” said Nique. Reminiscing with his other brother Alex, Nique was told a story about his childhood he was too young to remember. At the age of 8, he read a sign outside of a record store across the street from where he lived that said “DJs for hire”. He walked up to the clerk and told him, “I want to be a DJ”. “I always wanted to be a DJ for as long as I can remember. I finally became a DJ officially one lucky Christmas (1999). Before I got that starter kit, I was scratchin’ my old sesame street records on my fathers’ stereo system.” Nique has a very sincere appreciation for all aspects of music. He believes every form of music should be respected as they are the basis of many cultures and it is through song that we as individuals have a channel to express ourselves. This is the basis of Nique’s versatility. “DJing originated as an element of Hip-Hop and I feel that by spinnin’ other genres of music I’m merely applying an element of Hip-Hop to the other genres, therefore fulfilling my ultimate goal; contributing to Hip-Hop.” Nique attended high school at the high school of Art and Design which provided a melting pot for all aspects of Hip-Hop. There were rappers, break dancers, graffiti artists and DJs from all boroughs of NYC. This was something that helped Nique bear the 45 minute train ride it took to get to mid town New York City from the north Bronx every day; he felt that he was truly in his element. After he graduated from high school in 2002, he attended college at Bronx Community College for a year, and then in 2003 he transferred to Buffalo State College in Buffalo, NY. He is currently a broadcasting major and involved in various extracurricular clubs. He is the Hip-Hop director of 91.3 fm WBNY, Buffalo States radio station. Nique has opened for many headliners including Fat Joe, Bobby Valentino, Juelz Santana, Tierra Marie, TI, and Carlos Mencia. Nique has DJed at many venues in New York State such as The Sphere (Currently the Town Ball Room), Club Platinum, Classic Rocks, Burchfield’s, and more in Buffalo, NY. Also, at Sterling and O’Brien’s in New Rochelle, NY, Rumba in Bronx, NY, Sin Sin and the Leopard Lounge in New York, NY... Anything else u want to know about me, send me a messageLOVEMYFLASH CODE
